PTR for my first-ever solo trip and Mickey's Halloween Party on 10/1

The first thing I should tell you before I get started here is that I am a Disneylandaholic. My DH and I just got back from Disneyland (9/5 - 9/9), then I went a week later with my niece...My DH surprised me with an AP upgrade of my ticket, so I decided I am going to go for Halloween time and Holiday time because it's been years since I've seen the park decorated! So here I go...

The cast:

Me! Okay, so Thursday afternoon and Friday morning I will be in the park by myself for the first time. I'm a little nervous about going solo, but I'm excited to see how it goes. I figure the worst case senario is that I hate it and I'll never do it again...I can always hang out at my hotel and watch trashy TV and work on a crocheting project if I'm feeling too alone and just need to get outta there.

On Friday I am going to Mickey's Halloween Party with my DH's biological son's girlfriend. Phew. That's a fingerful to type! I'll just call her DHBSG. When DH and I were at Disneyland earlier this month, his bio-son and aforementioned DHBSG joined us for the day. It was so nice - it was the one anniversary of DH and bio-son's first face to face meeting. Awwww. So, what better way to celebrate than Disneyland?

We are the ridiculous people in the front. (Bio-son, DHBSG, DH, and I'm on the far right). The proper caption for this picture: See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil - and most importantly, SMELL NO EVIL!

So, DHBSG and I are both getting dressed up as Disney characters for Mickey's Halloween Party, and I'll post pictures from the party. You can laugh right along with me at my crapy sewing skills and ridiculous outfit.

The plan:

9/30 I'm driving down early morning (yay for eight hours in the car? ) and then hitting the park to ride my favorite TOT! I'll make my way over to my hotel, grab some dinner, and hit the sac early. I hope there is a fun movie on...

10/1 Getting to the park right at opening - this will be a first, seeing as DH always wants to stop for breakfast and mosey his way over to the park. I'm going to try to hit as many of my favorite rides as possible...who am I kidding - I'm going to be waiting anxiously for DCA to open so I can ride TOT 12 times in a row Yeah, I have issues and love that ride. It still scares me every single time I ride it, but it is so awesome I can't help but ride it over and over again. I'm excited to see if being a single rider really reduces wait time - it should be warm, so I'm looking forward to the single rider Splash Mountain line. Ahhhhh...

Hitting the hotel around lunchtime, eating, nappin', and then, operation get into costume! DHBSG will be meeting me at my hotel, we will drive over and park her car and head into the party. SO EXCITED!!

10/2 If going solo is not horrible, then I may head into the park for a few hours before driving home (boo for eight hours in the car ).

What's left to do?

That is all I have worked out at this point, seeing as I just decided to leave yesterday.

Wish me luck because I still have to sew my costume (yeah, I'll be wishing on a star for some magic with this project ) and get all of my homework done before I can head out on Thursday.

Did I already mention I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Thanks! I'm really, really, really excited to experience the park solo and Mickey's Halloween Party. I'll be posting progress on my costume making. That should be hilarous to watch! I have to finish it all by Tuesday evening - I think I need some pixie dust to sprinkle on my head and sewing machine

In theory, I have three days left before DISNEYLAND...

I am in Disneyland over excitment mode This means I am having a hard time focusing on anything other than getting in the car and leaving. I keep trying to remind myself that I need to sew my costume and write two papers tomorrow, which means I need my brain to get back on board so I can take care of these last few chores before heading out.

But, classes, homework, and *lucky me* laundry must be the focus on this awesome Monday...

Subscribing. Sounds like you get overly excited like I do. Makes it hard to focus on anything other than DISNEY!
Can't wait for more!

We will be there the same time ...arriving Fri and leavin Mon. I can't manage to get anything done between looking at ride hopper, this board, and our plans. Here's hopin we both finish our chores...lol. BTW if you see a short pooh sized white lady w/ a Mexican guy, a skinny Mexican girl, a white miniature version of myself, and a tiny girl who looks like a mix of the two aforementioned girls ....stop and say hi!

Okay, here I am trying to finish my costume and get packed for tomorrow, but the board keeps calling me and distracting me - you know, it sits there saying, "You know you might find some awesome tip or new pictures of something interesting if you just look for a few minutes...oh, just read two more threads..."

B&B22 - I am going to be lucky if I can actually leave tomorrow since I've spent so much time daydreaming over the past week!

stubby - Yay! Are you ready for the heat? I just checked the weather and I cannot believe it is going to be almost 90!! I am going to have my eyes peeled for you. Look for me too - short girl, Alice in Wonderland bag, looking lonely yet proud...

I'm going to be posting some pictures shortly of my costume making progress...almost there!

Subbing! Did you decide what your costume is going to be? Unless I'm being completely blind and read right over it (woulnd't put it past me with how tired I am).

Holy canole! I totally forgot to mention that!

I'm going as the - duh duh dunnnnnnnn...White rabbit!!

I just finished my costume and I'm getting ready to post some pictures of my "costume" construction. Who am I kidding - I sewed a top and put some ribbons on it and a heart. But, I did almost all of the sewing tonight, so I am feeling pretty spiffy

Now I'm in full on pack mode!

I'M GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!

Costume done!

It went from this:

to this:

You'll have to wait for an update to see me in it, but it's looking pretty good and I feel like I can wear it in public and not want to have a bag over my head. That counts for something...right?

My bag is almost totally packed and I'm having a happy flip out right now.

Woke up at 6, but I'm having a hard time leaving my dogs and DH. Yeah, I am crazy in love with my pups and I think walking them before I go is essential to both their happiness and my own. Bags are packed and I'm ready to head out. I cannot believe that I'm going to be walking around Disneyland in eight hours - that is my guess with traffic...let's sprinkle my drive with magic so that it might actually be shorter

I updated my iPod and I'm ready for the drive!

I wound up leaving very late yesterday...at noon to be exact. One of my dogs had been very ill for the past month - so ill we thought we might have to put her to sleep - but she made a turn around and now I think I love her more than I ever did before, so leaving her was extremely hard. I know the DH will take good care of her, but she's old and I just wanted to make sure I had some quality time before I left.

The drive was a little crazy - I hit a patch of thunderstorms while on the 5, which was a little scary...I am terrified of thunder and so afraid lightning hitting my car while I'm driving. Bahhh!

I just slowed down and decided I would rather have a little rain than the normal fall I-5 split pea fog.

But, I made it to Anaheim around 7 (even with traffic!) and decided to just head to my hotel and get to sleep early. Here is my wannabe Bella Ella shot:

I went to Target and picked up some fruit snacks to pop in my bag and some water. I scored and found some shoes!

I grabbed some dinner and headed back to my hotel - and I was out cold by 10:15.

Woke up at 5 this morning (this is my normal wake-up time), got some coffee at 7-11, and now I am in full excitment mode!

Next time I read you all, I'll be all Disneylanded out. Woot woot!

Just found your thread! Hope you are having a great time. I will be solo for 2 days that I am on my trip.

That will determine if I go solo again in the future!!

Do they still have the ghost Mickey popcorn buckets?

I cannot lie - it was a little strange for the first ten minutes or so, but then I thought to myself, "Hey! I'm having an adventure and no one here will even notice I'm by myself." The only person to notice I was alone was one of the Disney security guards realized I was by myself and chatted with me for a while. I chatted it up with a lot of people while waiting in line and walking around in stores (I'm a chatterbug). It was very different from going with someone else, but it was pretty awesome!
