DCA TR for 8/27/10

As promised, I'd post photos from mine and my girlfriend's trip to DCA. We went on Friday with hopes of it not being too busy as some kids already began school and it wasn't a holiday weekend. The drive from home (Camarillo, CA) wasn't that bad. We left home at around 9:00am and arrived to the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure around 10:30am. We were able to park near the escalators to the trams so we wouldn't have that long of a walk back to the car when the day was over.

My girlfriend (Kristine) and I

Once inside the park, Kristine went and got her favorite snack there, a frozen banana. After that, we just walked around and I snapped a few photos here and there.

Perfect on a hot day

The California Zephyr

Condor Flats

Taste Pilots' Grill

Kristine's favorite ride!

Mater and Lightning McQueen

We made our way back to the Hollywood Pictures Backlot and stepped in to Off the Page. Inside, we saw awesome artwork and Disney artist Brian Growe sketching some customer orders. (He's such a good artist!) After that, we walked further inside and saw some cool Toy Story things, including the Toy Story Zoetrope! After the Toy Story section, we waited in line for the Animation Academy where we learned to draw Tigger.

Once we got out of there, were grabbed a snack at Award Weiners before we went to watch Aladdin.

Award Weiners

Kristine got a corndog, I got a chili cheese dog with apples!

Kristine got apples, too.

After the show, we were in a Bug's Land and rode Flik's Flyers

After a Bug's Land, we made our way onto the Golden State

The Mission Tortilla Factory

Free tortilla!

Om nom nom

After the factory, we got some real meals over at the Pacific Wharf Cafe. I ordered my favorite salad and Kristine ordered a turkey sandwich.

After the Cafe, we walked across the bridge to watch the Army Men perform then rush over to the Tower of Terror because I had a FastPass!

Inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel

Kristine didn't go on this one

After the Tower of Terror, we went on over to Paradise Pier where we took a photo with Mickey and I got a FastPass for the California Screamin'. To pass up the time before the FastPass return time, we went on Toy Story Midway Mania where Kristine beat me badly in the games.

Kristine loves Ariel

The sun began to set and it looked really nice

Time was going by so fast! We made sure we got dinner before World of Color because it was going to be a while waiting in line. We went back to Taste Pilots' Grill where I got Full Throttle Fries and Kristine and I shared a Cheeseburger. After we ate, we killed an hour on Soarin' Over California then fell in line for World of Color in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.

Some guy was kind enough to take our photo

Finally got to our viewing area for the 10:15pm showing of World of Color. We viewed it in the RED area and it was AMAZING! I've never seen so many colors in my life! I loved every minute of it. The soundtrack matched to the bursts of the fountains was perfect and the flames provided us a little warmth as well. I'll let the photos do the talking.

Simply...amazing.

Before we left the park, we bought some snacks for the road.

We had SO much fun! We'll be going to Disneyland on the 12th of September, so look out for another TR!
Enjoy the photos and thanks for looking.

I'm here! The party can now start.

So I take it Kristine doesn't do thrill rides, huh?

We were in red section for WOC last time we went with Jesus' parents. It was a nice view, higher up than everyone else. The last time we were in blue? The left hand side near Ariel's Grotto.

I love your pictures, Allen. I can't wait til you guys go again.

Hah! Hey Court!

Kristine's into thrill rides, just not ones with drops that make you lose your stomach. She loves Indy and Star Tours, though!

RED is an awesome, if not one of THE perfect spots to watch WoC in. Just like you said, you're higher up than everyone else...and you don't get as wet.

I can't wait till we go again, either! This time we're going to Disneyland! T-minus 13 days and counting!

WoC

This past time we went to World of Color we sat in the Red section @10:30. The view was wonderful. Right After we did did more rides till they closed the park down. As we walked out the park we noticed that the father you are, the better the view. We saw the pictures crystal clear in the yellow section way in the back. The cast members did not mind that we just stood behind the ropes seeing WoC in a much better angle that suited our eyes.

I would have to agree with you. WoC is best viewed from afar to make sure everything can be seen.

Yeah, I know what you mean. My Mom sits those rides out too. If I sit in the last row of Star Tours, I get kind of motion sick. Same with Indy. It doesn't stop me from riding it though!

I don't want to ever get wet watching WOC. Just, too dark and too cold and no thank you.
