Brazilian Blowout?

So, was getting my hair colored last night and asked my stylist what her suggestions were to tame my frizzy hair. When I was younger, my hair was very long and stick straight -- I could wash it, flip it upside down to blow dry and it would look great. As I've gotten older the texture has changed -- it now has quite a bit of wave and can be very frizzy. I still wear it long (about 6" past my shoulders), so the only way to get it to look nice and smooth is to wash, blow dry it out straight with a round brush and then flat iron. This takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour minimum as my hair is also extremely thick. Needless to say, I don't want to put this much time into hair styling every day, so I usually end up pulling it into a ponytail most of the time.

My stylist suggested a Brazilian Blowout. And she said that she would do it for $150 if I do it at the same time as my next cut/color -- regular price is $200. Supposedly it will last for 10-12 weeks. Has anyone had this done? If so, how did you like it? Was it worth the $$? I know there have been some complaints about the chemicals that are used -- but they now have the "Zero" formula that doesn't use the questionable chemicals. So, I'm not worried about that. Just not sure I want to spend that much without being sure it's going to work.

TIA!

I had a Coppola Keratin Treatment done to my hair, twice now. I have very wavy and frizzy hair. When its humid out my hair looks crazy. My stylist suggested the treatment so I said, what the heck..... Well it was sooooooo worth the $$$$. I barely need a brush to blow dry it and its very silky and soft.

I have pictures of myself at WDW without the treatment and with the treatment and you cannot believe the difference.

Give it a try, if you dont like it, you dont have to do it again.

I also had the Coppola Keratin Treatment done and it changed my life! I have very curly hair that I straighten sometimes, but not daily. With the keratin treatment, I can wear it curly and my curls are softer and more relaxed, or I can straighten it and it stays straight all day, even when the weather is damp. I will definitely do it again.

I am glad to hear that they have changed the formula so there is no longer formaldehyde in the product. I have never used the product but I have heard anyone who does loves it!

My good friend at work had this done and her hair looks so beautiful - silky soft, frizz-free and straight! She has done twice now and her hair is in great condition.

My children are bi-racial so they have very thick, curly hair. I got this done for my teenage daughter in October of last year and it has changed her life . She just had it redone a couple weeks ago so it does last for about 4 months.

Can you still wash it everyday or every other day?

Yes, you can after the first week. I've always been told to wait a week after you first get the treatment done or as long as you can stand. After that, wash with sulfite free shampoo.

I was told to wait 72 hours before washing - I asked if it would be better to wait longer, and they said no (also, I wouldn't have been able to stand it - it felt pretty bad on that last day!).

Anyone care to share photos?

I am intrigued. My hair is very thick and naturally curly - but not the loose flowing curls. Tight and frizzy most days would be more like it!

I have been hesitant with this as well. I was my hair every other day. On the wash day I let it dry naturally and it's curly. The next day I straighten it. If I don't it's just a frizzy mess. If it's a humid day it turns right back into the frizzy mess. Would I still have to straighten it if I got the keratin?

This sounds really interesting, I'd never heard of it. I have very thin fine hair that gets poofy when its damp out or humid. I have to wash it, blow dry and flat iron it every day to make it presentable. My hair is always a terrible mess in the mornings.

I'm curious if this would make my hair too flat though. Anyone with thin/fine hair try this out?
