Aulani Views Diagram

Somewhere, someone posted a map/diagram of Aulani that showed where in the towers the different views-levels were placed (standard view, island gardens, pool, ocean). I'm trying to figure out which views will be available in the Phase I building and the corresponding points required. Can someone point me in the direction of this? I can't find it for the life of me.

I'd be interested in this as well.

This isn't exactly what you are looking for, but here is a map showing Aulani's three different phases. Dvcnews.com has more information about Aulani, including a breakout of the number of villas by phase, and the number of villas by view category.

On Aulani's point chart, Disney has placed a disclaimer that the island/garden view category, the pool/garden category, and the ocean view category may include partial views. I think Disney has learned from its experiences with BLT that some guests are displeased when they don't receive a full, 100% view of the Magic Kingdom or of Bay Lake.

Thanks wdrl. I have seen that map, and that seems to be the only one that I can find. It's nice to visualize that the first building to open is going to be the small one just off the lobby. My big issue is that I want to plan the points required for a stay at the beginning and I have no idea which views are going to be in that tower. For all we know they could only list that building as 50% ocean views + 50% standard views.

Around the time when they released Aulani, someone posted a building map (linked from the leaked point chart) that showed color bars across the building views that correlated to how Disney was going to rate the rooms. It might have been here... or elsewhere on the net... Grrrr....

DisWitt--I see that you're in Anaheim. If you go to the DVC sales center near Paradise Pier hotel, there is a small scale (dollhouse) model of Aulani, and the guides will point out which building is phase 1. It's easier to see views that way. I was also told that Aulani models will be replacing the GCV models in about 4 months.

Putting the Pieces Together to Figure the Views

One tiny step closer to trying to answer your questions: I just got a copy of the Aulani POS and it has a chart showing the view category assigned to each room number. So, room 101 is a Standard View Grand Villa, room 1189 is an Ocean View Grand Villa, room 861 is an Island View two-bedroom, and so forth. It also shows how many villas are in each of Aulani's four buildings.

But here is the glitch: I don't have a map showing the location of the villas by room numbers. At least not yet.

I'll try to piece together some information from tjkraz's reports on dvcnews.com with other tidbits from the POS, and maybe we can figure out the views. It might take awhile, but stayed tuned. Of course, by the time I figure it out Aulani might be open and we'll have first hand reports from DVC members.

WDRL, you are one devoted guy! That sounds like a lot of work. I guess that I can dig out my POS and do all of that stuff. But being lazy, I looked at the model photo from DVCNews.com and here's my guess:

Phase I, the SV villas are probably floors 1-5 on the island side because they are blocked by the convention center and parking structure.
Phase I, the IV villas are probably floors 6+ on the island side as they would be able to see the island/mountains.
Phase I, the PV villas would be floors 1-5 on the ocean side because their views of the ocean are mostly blocked by the lava rock formation / waterslide.
Phase I, the OV villas would be floors 6+ on the ocean side because they have unobstructed views straight out (over the waterslide) to the lagoon.

Check out the model and I think it'll make sense to you, too. (I tried to post the photo, but I'm too new on DIS to do it, you can see the model at DVCNews.com)

Okay.... I'm not that lazy... my Aulani POS sits in my bedside table (a little bedtime reading if I can't sleep, but that's another thread). It seems that my theory is correct. Looking at the Schedule 1 to Exhibit A (rev 6/7/10), here's the visualization that I can do:

Phase I Tower
(Island Side - odd # rooms) | (Ocean Side - even # rooms)

1651-1659 -IV | 1650-1658 -OV
1551-1559 -IV | 1550-1558 -OV
1451-1459 -IV | 1450-1458 -OV
1251-1259 -IV | 1250-1258 -OV
1151-1159 -IV | 1150-1158 -OV
1051-1059 -IV | 1050-1058 -OV
0951-0959 -IV | 0950-0958 -OV
0851-0859 -IV | 0850-0858 -OV
0751-0759 -SV | 0750-0758 -OV
0651-0659 -SV | 0650-0658 -OV
0551-0559 -SV | 0550-0558 -PV
0451-0459 -SV | 0450-0458 -PV
0XXX-0XXX -XX | 0350-0358 -PV

I think that I got the correct wing. The Phase 3 Wing would be the only other wing with SV rooms in it, too and those look like X61-X69. That matches with the even numbered rooms that would be IV and OV's on the opposite side. I think that the first floors are either offices, lobby spaces, or subterranean because of the slope of the site.

Let me know what you think... I don't have a room # map to consult. That would be definitive!

We are babysitting our nieces all day today so I probably won't be able to devote any time to the Aulani project until late tonight or tomorrow. I think you are on the right track about the rooms, and I'll see if I can confirm what you have already figured out. I wish the Aulani POS had blueprint drawings of the villas and floorplans (the BLT and AKV POSs have them); it would make our work a little easier.

Geting some early info on the views and rooms is a great idea. The BLT rooms and views thread has been fun, the addition of the pictures has been awesome. Hopefully we can do the same for Aulani. If I am going all the way to Hawaii, I would like to know what the view options are before selecting a category! Knowledge is power!

We're a year out from anyone posting actual recon photos from rooms, but I'm planning on booking for September 2011. This exercise has helped because we were debating between SV or IV (point conservation)... I think the SV are going to be pretty poor considering that DVC only has a few rooms in that level. PV might be nice... especially from the other buildings when the "quiet pool" and such go in outside the "valley". Worth the points? I don't know. Those OV suites are $$$.

The Aulani POS has some interesting information about the size of the Resort.

It has 460 Vacation Homes, including 21 Grand Villas, 246 Lockoff Two-Bedroom Villas, and 193 Dedicated Two-Bedroom Villas.

Aulani has 11,518,422 points. In terms of points, only SSR, with about 14,031,570 points, is larger than Aulani.

Aulani's points are assigned to 199 Units. The Units are broken down as follows:
21 Units with 1 Grand Villa allotted 46,343 points
95 Units with 2 Two-Bedroom Villas allotted 48,042 points
83 Units with 3 Two-Bedroom Villas allotted 72,063 points

The POS shows the room numbers assigned to each Unit and the View category of each room. For example, Unit 12F has a dedicated Two-Bedroom villa room number 651, and 2 lockoff Two-Bedroom villas with room numbers 653/655 and 657/659. Each of these villas are classified as Standard View villas.

Aulani Rooms & Views -- Phase 1

I posted some information about Aulani's room locations and views on the DVCNews.com Forum (see http://dvcnews.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6530). Based on the information contained in the POS and other sources, it appears Aulani's Phase 1 will have the following number of villas in each View category:

Standard -- 8 lockoff 2BR; 4 dedicated 2BR

Island -- 18 lockoff 2BR; 9 dedicated 2BR

Pool -- 4 lockoff 2BR; 0 dedicated 2BR

Ocean -- 20 lockoff 2BR; 10 dedicated 2BR

I have more information about Aulani's room locations and views posted on the thread on the DVCNews forum.

We are planning a trip to Aulani, and wondered if there was any more/ new info on the location of the room views? Ocean view is obvious, but not the garden/pool, island, and standard views. Thanks
