Movies to watch before first visit?

We are taking DS8 and DD6 to DLR for their first visit. As we talk about Disney movies I find there are many they don't remember, so we've been rewatching some of the favorites. Which movies would you recommend catching up on before we go?

In the last month we've watched Fantasia, Jungle Book, Dumbo, Monsters Inc, Tinkerbell and Cars.

I'd do the main Fantasyland staples - Peter Pan, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio (you already watched Dumbo).

The ones that come to mind are Tarzan... so they get the context of the Tree House, Alladin so they can appreciate the show, Bugs Life, and Toy Story.

* Aladdin
* Star Wars (not really disney but a big ride)
* Finding Nemo
* Wind in the Willows ( may be under Ichabod and Mr. Toad)
* Roger Rabbit
* just some old Mickey cartoons with the fab 5

Excellent ideas. I would add Cinderella and Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Maybe Brave, Toy Story....

I know the classics are great and my kids have watched Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, Littlest Mermaid, Peter Pan, Aladdin and Pokohontas etc. but the Pixar stuff is a big part of DCA - Cars, Bugs Life, Toy Story, Nemo - those are excellent movies and are perfect for their ages.

My kids are almost 11 and 10 so they have seen them all and over many years so it would be hard to get them all in during a short period of time and to have each movie be able to find a spot in their heart. So picking the ones they might find more to relate to in the parks might make sense.

Haunted Mansion? Our boys watched it about 8 or 9, they said the movie explained parts of the ride.

We watched the cars movies as I have never seen them & wanted to be more familiar with the characters etc when going to carsland for the first time. I really liked the first one.

Surprised nobody mentioned Pirates; they'll be sure to love them, and then it'll be enjoyable for them to ride the post-movie ride version (other fans of the original ride may not be inclined to agree )

Great thread.

Also Indiana Jones

Btw, no way my DD8 would watch Pirates. She's afraid.

Umm...all of them!?!

No, here's a list of the ones we like to watch before a big, multi-day Disney trip. Sorry if they've already been mentioned. Didn't read the whole thread:

Snow White
Peter Pan
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
Sword in the Stone
Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Lion King
Dumbo
Jungle Book
Indiana Jones
Pirates of the Caribbean
Star Wars
Finding Nemo
Monster's Inc
Toy Story
A Bug's Life
Cars
Old Mickey Cartoons
Fantasia (if we are planning on Fantasmic)
Tower of Terror (yes, there's a movie, and yes, it's cheesy, but kind of good)
Haunted Mansion (even though it's terrible)

So, pretty much anything with an attraction themed after it, plus just some of the great classics we can't miss.

I would not suggest an 8 and 6 year old watch Pirates either, my Dd watched it at 10 and still found it scary. I never did understand Disney marketing it to kids?

We like POTC, Haunted Mansion, Lilo and Stitch, Cars, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Mary Poppins, Indiana Jones, Sleeping Beauty, and Aladdin. We like all Disney movies but these seem to always fall into the pre-trip category.

There are so many others though.
