Not necessarily. For example SSR/THV is my home resort so I can make reservations at 11 months before the trip. I can make reservations at 7 months out at any of the other DVC resorts. I think the only time it's particulary difficult to get a resort at 7 months is during the Christmas holiday from what I've read. We had no issue getting a 2 bedroom at the GCV over Father's Day at 7 mos out.

And truly, if you can spend $780 for 8 nights in a Deluxe DVC Studio, it's a no brainer. For gits and shiggles, I priced out a Value room and it says $827, no joke.

Isn't that outrageous? I think one resort where you really save money with the DVC is at the GCH. I want to to buy points. I just need to come up with a logical argument in the favor of buying it.

You save with all of them truly depending on how you prefer to vacation and how many are in your family. With 5 of us, at WDW, we would have to book Deluxe rooms aside from the only Moderate (POR) that fits 5. The standard rooms are small. I love having room to live and having a kitchen is a total plus.

When you go to WDW do the DVC tour. It's an hour, you get a ice cream, a butt load of FPs, and it's interesting.

Stay there, let Scotty feel the magic (no pun intended). That's what I did with Michael. Plus Jenna's hubby Nate was a huge catalyst in us buying. We were on a trip with them, staying at the OKW in a Grand Villa and AKV in a 2 bedroom. Out of the blue Michael asks if I want to take the tour. I was like: hell yeah! Jenna and Nate took our kids back to the AKV pool and 2 hours later we came back proud owners of DVC.

You can also book outside of Disney which some people strongly suggest against
but DVC is the majority of our vacation budget. We booked an amazing one bedroom, full kitchen, ocean view room in Cabo 2 years ago.

I am crunching numbers and if he works the overtime I think he is going to we could feasibly buy flat out for our November vacation. I just need to work him before that.

Go to the Disneyworld website and order the free DVC DVD. I did three times before we bought.

Actually earlier I went to the DVC website and ordered one, and I ordered a trip planning one too.

I have never watched the WDW part of the planning DVD.

Get ready to start a handy dandy planning binder. When my kids kiss up- they ask me to watch the planning videos.

I started a planning notebook already. I figure I better take notes because I have ever done this before.

Oh that is so beautiful. If the idea of that ride didn't scare me so much I would go on it just for that view.

TiW Math

AS my children are experincing their 2 nd sugar drop of the day (damn candy) I thought I'd do some current research on the TiW card. I order for us to buy the TiW card for $75, one of the adults would have to be an Annual Pass holder.

Although we are planning to get 8 days Hoppers, we are planning to also hit a water park one. With the APs we save like $4 per water park ticket.

Bare with me as I try to make this reader friendly.

4 adult 8 day park hoppers= $1224
5 adult 8 day park hoppers= $1530

1 AP with DVC discount= $399
1 PAP with DVC discount= $504

The TiW card= $75 regardless of which AP we get.

The cost diff, including the TiW card between 5 PH and 4 PH with an AP= $168

The cost diff, including the TiW card between 5 PH and 4 PH with a PAP= $273

With the PAP, I'd get into the water park for free so there's another -$40 making the diff= $223. DH would also get freee access to one of the golf courses for free too. I think he plans on golfing twice. I don't know what it costs to golf but I'll guess at $50 a round? So that knocks another $100 off making the PAP a better deal and that's not to mention any merchandise discounts which we'll surely spend $100 on each child (3) which adds up to another $60 in savings by having the PAP vs the AP. So now, the diff is only $63 total before we've done any dining. In order to break even, we'd need to enjoy about $311 in food and drinks at participating TiW restaurants (listed below) over the course of 12 days.

The PAP with TiW card seems to be the best deal. I blue bolded the places we'd like to dine as of now:

A stop in Miami sounds great!
I have TiW and LOVE it. It works so much better for us than the DDP.
Have you considered getting APs for everyone? Maybe plan another WDW trip within the year.

We are considering visiting DLR either in February or April 2012. What resort do you recommend? I'm leaning toward the Disneyland Hotel. Which resort has the larger rooms?
