We are picky, bland eaters too... at least me & the kids!

Alex was gluten/dairy free for two of our trips & Disney does a great job accomodating special diets! I can find you a contact at Disney to email for lists of where you can get foods Jack can eat. We had the best experiences at TS restaurants because they would make something special for Alex & bring it out with the rest of our food (didn't work as well at buffets but still OK). CS meals were trickier though... you can make it work but there's a lot of extra waiting involved.

The rental house will definitely make things easier!

Is Alex still gluten/dairy free? I know you say he eats something different from what Zach is eating, but you didn't say what. So I'm curious if it still is that way and if you think it helps/helped. Yes the house is going to make things much easier. And thank you, someone did already send me all the Disney forms and pages and pages with all the listings of places with gluten free foods. I'm trying to sort through them. But yes, I heard TS meals are much more accommodating than CS. But the CS are capable now of accommodating they just need advance notice. So I have fingers crossed, and some extra planning on that part.

I think snacking around WS is a great idea, but like you say it will take a bit of research- But luckily you have lots of time to do that!! So many options, really.. you should be fine!

Alex was gluten/dairy free for almost three years. His gastroenterologist in Boston (who specializes in kids with autism) believes that any "leaky gut" symptoms should heal in that amount of time so he came off the diet with help from digestive enzymes. He did that for over a year and is off those now too. He had the whole endoscopy/colonoscopy thing too - everything looked good inside. Now his belly aches are related to bowel issues - from constipation & withholding (sorry if TMI)... Now we're wondering about Zach. He just started seeing the same doctor and he thinks Zach has acid reflux and started him on a trial of prilosec. Since most of his belly aches are stress related and above his belly button that's the theory he's working off of...

It's funny... we try to avoid high fructose corn syrup too so Zach will ask people, "Does that have high fruit toast corn syrup in it?"

Jessica, I like your TS choices and your idea of snacking around Epcot. Chef Mickey's is a great one and I hope the boys are OK with the characters. I bet they'll love the monorail gliding through.

You are totally fine. Thanks for joining. It won't be as clever as your ptr, but hopefully I'll keep you entertained.

ok, cool, great information here for me. thanks. That is cute about Zach, Jack always asks about dye. We are on a waiting list to see a specialist here. My pediatrician just writes me a referral for whatever I ask for, cause he really doesn't know much about autism.

Jack gave me the ok, for taking pictures with and meeting Mickey, but he said thats all he wants to see. So at least I hope to get a picture with Mickey, and if that is the only character, then we will stop for every Mickey I see.

Love it! Tell him Minnie will be very happy he wants to visit with Mickey... but a little jealous too.

The when… well we will be going in March, because that is when my DH’s spring break is (remember he is a teacher, so we planned around his and the boys break)

So we will be in Florida from March 12th – 19th

I’ve heard March is a great time of year to go weather wise. But I think the time period we are going crowds are going to be higher (not summer time high, but still more crowded than other times), so that has me a little worried with our cast of travelers. I just have to make sure not to over plan for everyone. We will have two vehicles if anyone wants to go back and relax for awhile.

Where will we be resting our heads each night? Well we decided after much stress on my part to rent a vacation home for the week. Like I said I tried to plan two trips previously and for different reasons each time they just didn’t happen. And in trying to figure this trip out, Jack’s special food and needs were just stressing me out too much, that we decided having a quiet place with a full kitchen would be the best option for our first trip. The private pool in the back is a major bonus too. You can see pictures on the link below
