Sorry Tonga Wingo, I didn't understand the question. Haven't been to Via Napoli yet, so hard to say. Le Cellier is excellent, but not one of our "must do's"

Excellent! Thanks, Ron!

I'll introduce myself. I've been a member of the Dis Dads boards for years, but changed my user name a few months ago so had to start from scratch. In 3 days, we have our 7th family trip to Disney. We're definitely a Commando style family and my kids will tell you that my favorite thing to do is to make Dining Reservations and re-adjust the tour plan. And I'm teaching them well. For our trip next week, all of them have the trip plan memorized (expect for my wife, I'm the planner). I caught our oldest studying it again last night!

So for this trip:

Friday: Land at MCO at 2:45. ME to BLT (our DVC home resort)
Friday Dinner: California Grill
Saturday: Epcot, then Boardwalk
Saturday Lunch: 11:30am Coral Reef
Saturday Tour: 12:30pm DD & I are doing the Aqua Tour. I did this with her brother when he was 8 and she's been waiting 2 years to be old enough to do it herself! DW, DS & DS on their own
Saturday Dinner: Kouzinna. A family favorite. We are huge Iron Chef fans so anything Cat Cora does is fine by us!
Sunday: Magic Kingdom
Sunday Lunch: Plaza. Another family favorite. Love to meet the Main Street Characters that come in. Miss Chef Ken, who was there for 35 years and retired last year...
Sunday Dinner: Grand Floridian Cafe. Haven't eaten here before, but the menu looks great. Might also call an audible and eat at the TOTWL one night...
Monday: Split day. DD & I go to AK in the am. DW, DS & DS go to HS. My DW and boys are big roller coaster fans, so they're off to do that. My daughter and I will spend a quieter morning at AK.
Monday Lunch: Split. Yak & Yeti (DD & me), Brown Derby (DW, DS & DS)
Monday Dinner: 'Ohana. Our of our "must do's" that we haven't done in the last 2 trips.
Tuesday: Epcot in AM. HS in PM.
Tuesday Lunch: Via Napoli
Tuesday Dinner: Mama Melrose then Fantasmic.
Wednesday AM: Wild Africa Trek Tour. Heard mixed reviews but very excited nonetheless!
Wednesday Lunch: Tusker House
Wednesday Dinner: Wolfgang Puck. Never eaten there, but again, huge Food Network fans, plus it is close to...
Wednesday Night: Cirque du Soleil! Did this years ago when our kids were much younger. DW has been dying to go back.
Thursday AM: Epcot.
Thurday Lunch: Teppan Edo. My oldest's favorite restaurant. He's allergic to nuts so can't eat any of the food, but loves the show.
Thursday Dinner: Hoop-Dee-Doo Review. Haven't been since I was a kid. My father and his wife are joining us at this part of the trip.
Friday: Magic Kingdom
Friday Lunch: Crystal Palace. Who doesn't love Pooh?
Friday Dinner: California Grill again to celebrate the end of a wonderful trip.
Saturday AM: Chef Mickey's for Breakfast, then check out and maybe hit the Magic Kingdom one last time before leaving.

Kids (and parents) are literally bouncing with joy in anticipation!

We are going to Sea World and Aquatica instead. We decided to stay at POR for a few reasons...first we LOVE the resort and second we are taking advantage of the room only discount!

We are planning on a big Universal/Disney trip next August, but I have a feeling that we are going to miss the parks after not going there since last summer (I know you all will understand!!!) So, I suggested to DH that we take a 5 night trip over Winter Break (we are both teachers) ....

My idea was to not tell the kids and to surprise them on Christmas morning with the suitcases packed, somehow surprise them (don't have that part figured out yet), throw everyone in the car, and drive 17 hrs (yes 17) down to Disney. (We always drive since there are 5 of us...)

I think I have him convinced....what do you think????
I think you can definitely convince him! After all, you aren't even going to any parks this trip! You've got to get some true WDW time in soon!

What a great thread! I am the one & only planner in the family, everyone loves to be surprised at what I come up with. So far I have DVC, plane & dining reservations. Perhaps I can learn how to plan out the days more effectively from you all. We are doing lots of new restaurants this time & celebrating DD's 13th b-day.

Day 1 - no parks, hang at AKV, diner at California Grill
Day 2 - water park & diner at Whispering Canyons
Day 3 - AK & HS - F! package @ Mama Melrose
Day 4 - Epcot - move to BLT - Lunch at Teppan Edo & dinner at Biergarten
Day 5 - rest! - dinner at Kona
Day 6 - MK - dinner at Crystal Palace
Day 7 - Happy Birthday Epcot - lunch at LeCellier & dinner at Les Chefs de France - then Illuminations Cruise (we have room for 3 more so PM me if interested 8/15)
Day 8 - DTD/Disney Quest - dinner at Grand Floridian
Day 9 - check out - breakfast at 1900 Park Fare

I brushed up on my bad weather Commando skills this weekend

We went to Busch Gardens Va, left NJ 6pm Fri night with a Sat outlook of 90% severe T-storms, rain & Tornato warnings It could happen at WDW too so we took the 7hr drive

It was overcast all day (even though it was supossed to rain all day), held off till almost 6pm before everything broke loose We were able to get everything done at the park including all the shows The threat of rain must have kept everyone away

So I guess the lesson here would be unless the weather is really bad out, go for it (we had a 10% chance it was going to hold off) I planned other stuff just incase when we arrived at the Hotel at 2am, but now we can do it on another trip I would have been really mad if we didn't go and found out that it didn't downpour till 6

Looking at the tickers it seems like a few of us will be at WDW the same time in August (21-27area), Who is up for a Commando Club meet if nothing else a pic & a handshake (It's great to put a face to the name), I'll be doing this with a few of The Dis Dads that will be there at the same time

I did this last trip, I meet up with 8 Dis Dads (some are Commando members) it was like we knew each other forever

If anyone is interested just post it and we can try to set something up

ques for Commandos

OK. Help appreciated here. We will be at EPCOT for the day in May and want to do a marshmallow campfire at one of the resorts before heading back to POP where we are staying.

We plan on catching a bus leaving EPCOT to the campfire resort. Which one would be closest?

And surely you can tell me if 7 PM is the time all the campfires start?

Normally 7 PM is the time. You will have to check for particular days though.

You may just want to walk to the Epcot resorts from International Gateway, which is in World Showcase. If so, the Beach Club would be the closest. Then you can walk back into Epcot and catch your bus to POP, or catch a DTD bus from the Beach Club and take a bus to POP from there.

When I made a few "extras" ressies, I asked the CM if there was anything I might be interested in and she told me there is a campfire at Camp Wilderness - Sing A Long With Chip & Dale, you can make smores (only thing you would have to pay for) she said it started at 6:30 (could be the time they want you there by)
At 9 they show a movie

We are going to try it out on our next trip to see what it's all about

Ron, you can bring your own fixins for smores and make them. We went the last time we were there and it was awesome, the singing and Chip and Dale were a lot of fun. Remember, Chip is the one with a Chocolate Chip for a nose.

OOHH finding this thread just got me all sorts of excited. this will be my first commando vacation. My last vacation without any planning was a bust granted it was still a lot of fun but we missed sooooo much. So I made a pretty detailed down to the minute plan, I do plan on being flexible with it though. I showed it to dc who is going with me on the trip and she thought it was a little much, so I made her "a list of things we want to do so we can check them off as we go." The list is in fact the same plan, with the times removed I'm determined!! Especially since dd4 is big enough to do most of the big kid rides!! I wanna do as much as possible!

You are member #152 IMO I would go with the version that you gave your DC without the times, unless it is a show or a ressie with a hard time, it is almost impossible to do rides on a down to the minute timeline, too much can happen
The check list would be the way to go, you can knock it off and have some fun doing it, if you don't get to something just move it to the next day you visit that park, plus it will relieve some pressure & stress and you can enjoy the parks
