You can read about AKV, BCV and BWV in my TR to see if any of those interest you for next trip. =)

Monday

As Shelley said earlier, Monday was our Epcot day. Our plan was to spend two days at Epcot - 1 in Futureworld and one in World Showcase. We managed to get up and running this day without a problem. Here are the boys lounging…

The best news, I think, was that Mom was much better, and she and my aunt were able to make it to the Segway tour that they’d had planned! (I’ll post pics here in a minute.)

Norah and Ruby had arrived the evening before, and my kids were excited about having a kid besides their siblings to play with! After we hit the gates and got a Photopass picture taken, we saw someone exciting – Daisy Duck! We’d yet to see Daisy on our many trips, so we headed straight over. Tim and Shelley were nice enough to run for Soarin’ fastpasses for us, so we were able to enjoy the characters (Stitch ended up being in the same area). Some pictures…

[B]

Stitch took a liking to our boys..he followed Will around for a minute after we were done with all the fist bumps. I’m pretty sure we have video of it, but I have no clue how to work with videos and Photobucket. DH said he’d look at it with me, but who knows when that will be?!?!?

Once we had our photo ops, we headed for…

We knew from my MIL’s experience – this was the park they’d visited while we were at SWW – that Will didn’t do well on this ride. It turns out he’s not a big fan of dark rides at all…which meant he sat out a LOT of rides this trip. Anyway, Sue (my MIL) offered to take him with her into the gift shop area while we rode with the older kids. This was our first ride experience with Ruby, and it turned out that she had some issues with the dark, as well. But we jumped into the non-existant queue (everyone was obviously in line for Soarin’!) and hopped on a few clams. Bryan and I were actually able to ride this one together, since Jack and Haley opted to ride together (they actually wanted to ride with Ruby, but she was unsure enough that she needed to ride with Norah), so DH and I sat back and enjoyed. Bry decided to try out the new cameras without the flash, and the pictures actually aren’t that bad.

(and no, he didn’t use the flash…he was a good guest.)
After the ride, we met up with Sue, Stoney, Will, and Uncle Tim (and a little later, Tim and Shelley). The kids played around in the shark area…

And we decided to hit Turtle Talk. I believe that’s when everyone else struck out on their own. We saw some cool lights as we waited...

(Thought of you, LL!)
We ended up in the first row because Norah was on her scooter (her first day – there’s a bit of a learning curve to driving those things! We made sure we kept our toes clear). They sat her in the handicapped area, so we got front-row seats next to her, and the kids were in the front row since we’d been the first to enter (we entered through the exit). This really turned out to our advantage, as Jack was the first person Crush talked to! His bright blue hat probably had something to do with it. Once Crush learned Jack’s name, he asked who had brought him. The lady with the microphone came back to talk to us, and Bryan had a little fun with him. When asked what his name was, Bryan replied, “Daddy.” Crush went on a bit about how his parents must’ve worked hard to find such a strange name for him. They bantered for a minute before the show went on.

We really do enjoy this show – it’s a highlight for us every time. And we’ve been lucky enough to talk to Crush each time…I’m sure that whenever our streak of luck expires, our kids will think something’s wrong because they didn’t get to talk to Crush!

(continued on next post...)

We shepherded the kids past through the gift shop as quickly as we could to avoid spending money. I really wanted to ride Spaceship Earth this trip – I hadn’t ridden it since 1992! We checked the line, but it was up to 40 minutes…nope. So we decided to head to the Imagination pavilion, since our kids hadn’t ever ridden that, either. Of course, it was pretty much a walk-on.

(I could've done without the skunk smell, though...)

I thought the ride was cute – and I kinda like the song, too (I know a lot of people find the whole thing either lame or annoying). The kids enjoyed playing on the way out.

We were in this particular gift shop for a little while. This was where Haley found her first set of Silly Bands. You know, those little elastic bracelets that are so popular now that come in all different shapes? They were the bane of my existence the last few weeks of school…all my students wanted to do was trade those silly things. I’d made a point of not buying them for Haley because they bugged me so much…she still managed to come home with several that she’d bummed off her friends, though. Now here they were in front of her – she couldn’t pass them up! I had made myself promise not to interfere too much in what the kids bought. She bought the bands (Toy Story), and to her credit immediately gave one to Jack and several to Ruby. This was the beginning of a trend. I shudder to think how much of her money she spent on those silly things – they were something like $6 a pack! That’s when we decided to head to Sunshine Seasons, since we had about 45minutes before our Soarin’ Fastpasses were good. I was glad to go – we’d never eaten there before, though I’d always wanted to.

We met up with my mom and aunt at that point. They’d had a ball wheeling around World Showcase on their Segways.

They were also excited, because they’d been ready to wait the 70 minutes that Soarin’ was posting for stand-by when some gentleman came by and handed them his Fastpasses! They were so excited when I saw them. I asked if they wanted to eat first, and then our passes would be good and we could go together. This is when I had a bit of a “Disney Newbie” moment. Mom was insistant that their fastpass time would end by the time we were done eating. She had seen the CM turn someone away, and she was afraid that was the case. No amount of me trying to convince her that we’d done this before (we’d hit TSM three hours after our window yesterday) would do it. I finally took her to the information desk there next to the ride to ask the CM. He gave the same answer I did, but he was wearing the Flight Attendant uniform, so he had a bit more clout. We headed back to where the rest of the group was already sitting to touch base, then decided to go look at the menu.

When we first got there, we had a bit of a food meltdown. I’ve mentioned my kids are picky, right? Well, Will isn’t, but the other two are. Horribly. Believe it or not, they’re better than they were. But that’s not saying a ton. There were no hot dogs, or plain pasta, or chicken nuggets on the menu…therefore, Haley informed me we needed to go somewhere else. I admit…I didn’t handle it extremely well. I tried to calmly tell them that we’d get them a rotisserie chicken meal to split, with mashed potatoes – they’ll eat all of that at home. Haley looks at me, though, and asks if the chicken comes from the same store we buy it from at home. ?!?!?? That’s when I became Ugly Mommy and told her that was fine, she could go back to the table and sit and watch the rest of us eat. I know, not very Disney of me…I had more of those moments than I’d care to admit on this trip. Bryan came up to us then, though, with a more level head, and took charge of Haley. Jack needed some cajoling, but he ate the chicken (as you saw in Shelley's report, with chopsticks…hey, whatever works). Haley ended up, I think, with a kid’s turkey sub…that she took all the meat and cheese off of and ate the bread with some butter. At least she ate – Bryan made sure she got some kind of a fruit or vegetable. I ended up with some really tasty ginger beef with noodles and stir-fry veggies. I got a really nice fruit tart for dessert, too. Bryan, once he got Haley settled with Ruby and Norah, enjoyed his lunch too (though I can’t remember what it was at this point). I do know that he got a yummy cheesecake with a chocolate crust…which I sampled a few too many times for his liking. I really needed to take more food pictures...I have almost none! Anyway...Will didn’t get a meal of his own unless it was a buffet this trip, since we weren’t paying for him. But he got extremely good at mooching off of other people. Here he is with Mom and Aunt Dee after we had pretty much finished.

Once we got done, we decided to hit Soarin’ in shifts since Will was too short to ride. Jack and I went with my mom and aunt. Neither of them had ridden it before, and they were both excited about it after hearing me talk about it and reading about it. It didn’t disappoint! It was fun to ride with Jack, as well, who couldn’t remember his ride from 2007. I did notice quite a bit of “junk” on the screen, though. I hope they clean the film or the screen – I wasn’t sure what it was – soon. It’s too good a ride to let things like that spoil it!

As soon as we were done, we headed back out to take charge of Will. It turned out that they had split up even further, and only Bryan, Will, Uncle Tim, Norah, and Ruby were left. Bryan had been riding Will’s new favorite ride with him repeatedly…the escalator!

We quickly relieved him and let them enter the Fastpass queue. Mom and Aunt Dee took Jack with them to hit Nemo since they hadn’t had a chance to ride yet,

and Will and I went back to Sunshine Seasons to get a drink and a cookie to pass the time. When everyone came out, Will and I headed back to the bus with them and Bryan ran to MouseGears (Tim had seen Star Wars stuff on sale, and he had to check it out). We caught the bus back to CBR – we had a bit of a wait, but it was 1 or so in the afternoon, so I figured the buses wouldn’t be running as frequently. Mom, Aunt Dee, and Jack met up with us there – they’d managed to hit Spaceship Earth as well, so it had been a productive detour for them.

Up next…a perennial favorite: Chef Mickey’s!

I will definitely do that...I know my kids would enjoy Stormalong Bay! I wish we'd gotten a chance to resort hop down there...DH and I both have said that was something we wanted to do. I need to scope some of these places out!!

It was silly how excited we were to see Daisy. But we were all pretty psyched! We actually saw her in the MK at the circle in Town Square later that trip, too. Yeah, Mom and Dee had a ball on the Segways. We all joked that we needed to have video of Mom because she's not exactly the most coordinated person in the world. But it looks like she did ok!

Yay for Soarin'! I agree with you though, they really do need to clean up that screen, it's getting a bit bothersome when you ride it.

You are allowed to have Ugly Mommy episodes, Disney is overwhelming even for me and I don't have kids yet....I'm sure I'll have moments like that someday.

Oh, I had waaaayyyy more than my share, unfortunately. DH and I actually spent a good part of our anniversary dinner last weekend trying to figure out what went wrong (ok, that sounds really bad, but it was a conversation we needed to have and when you've got a chance for an uninterrupted conversation, you have to take it!). It WILL NOT happen again, or no one might go back to Disney with me.... Thanks for the support, though!

Yes, a good deal of the people at SWW have to do with the Clone Wars series. My kids looooove it, though, and of course DH just eats it up. It's not bad...I find it doesn't annoy me nearly as much as Tom and Jerry cartoons when they're playing on the DVD player behind my head in the van (I don't know what it is about Tom and Jerry...they've always annoyed me! )

I promise I'll be back with an actual update soon! I've been getting up before my kids in the morning to post them...today I had to work on my classes or I was going to be in trouble! I can't wait to share the Chef Mickey's pics...we really had a good time!

A little Big Bang Theory discussion...DH and I were watching last night and they announced it's moving to Thursdays in the fall! I have choir every Thursday...it's not negotiable...it's the ONLY day of the week I really can't watch TV. I'm so bummed! I guess we're going to have to break down and find a DVR before September....

what do you have for your tv provider? most of them will give the DVR to you for free, you just have to pay the monthly fee for it, which is about 6 bucks. we love ours, we never watch a show live anymore too many commercials taking up my valuable time.

Okay so I've read the installments (skipped the chit chat so I could get caught up). Let's see if I can remember everything I wanted to comment on.

Oh, the perils of driving in the Atlanta area. My daughter lives about 90 miles from Atlanta but goes into the city a lot to work in a homeless shelter there. The locals say "pick your poison".....you either get stuck in traffic giong right through the city or you get stuck in traffic going around the city.

I don't blame you one little bit for not spending too much time at the rest area when there are signs warning of "poisonous snakes"! Yikes!

You know from my trip report that I take pictures of all the Disney signs when we arrive. There's no better site in the world than those signs.

Yay for being assigned to Martinique 26! We stayed in that same building in 2009 and I was very pleased to see just how short of a walk it was to Old Port Royale. Glad to see that you guys liked the resort.

Hummmmmm, what else did I want to comment on? Oh yeah, I hated to hear that your Mom wasn't feeling well. There's nothing worse than being sick while on vacation. And, I was glad to hear that she was feeling better quickly.

Star Wars Weekends: Oh my! I didn't know what to expect when we went this year as it was our first time. It took us forever and ever to find Boba's Bounty. We walked right past it several times.

We stood in line for a Fastpass to see Jeremy Bullock and he was a super nice guy. How lucky were your guys that they got to meet him and talk with him. Very very cool!

Epcot: I know what you mean about Living With The Land being nothing outstanding but it still being an attraction that you really enjoy. We usually ride it at least twice.

I had to laugh at your comment about your Mother not believing you about the Fastpass window time. My mother questioned me about it and I had to explain it to her several times that we could actually go past the time and the Fastpass would still be good.

Sunshine Seasons....haven't ever eaten there. The reason? I know I'd end up doing the same thing you did with your picky eater. You'll order something here or you won't eat at all!

Okay, I am sure that I missed something that I wanted to comment on but I can't, for the life of me, remember what it was. Looking forward to more!

Yes, I know...we had kind of made a promise that we weren't going to up our monthly bills in the last year or so with anything extra so we could repair the damage that staying home for six months did to my paycheck. We're back to having a cushion, though, so maybe now we can look at a few things. DH keeps talking about just wanting to buy one because it'll be better in the long run...I don't know about that, because the ones from the cable company seem so darn easy. I definitely have to look into it before September now, though! There's not a lot that I watch on TV, but that happens to be one thing I enjoy enough not to miss it!

Isn't it funny how that name tag makes everything alright? Of course, I was talking to my mom (who gets motionsick in the back of a car) and my aunt (who has an issue with heights) as we were waiting for the ride telling them all about the restraint system that I SWORE I remembered from the last two times riding Soarin'...and then we go into the ride and all they have are lap belts. Since my Disney knowledge (mostly my memory) was a little faulty there, they were probably glad in hindsight that they'd double checked. Apparently, I got mixed up with another ride?? They were both fine, though. I also had to ask someone how to find Boba's Bounty. DH has a radar for those things, though.

DSs and I have loved this show from the start. DW is just now starting to watch it enough that it is starting to make sense, and she gets into it a little, but she was the same way at first.

Ohh, got to have one of those!!!

Great TR updates. We haven't been during SWW. DSs would love it, but they are all pretty much too old to get to do the Jedi Training based on all the pictures I've seen.

Need to try that Segway tour sometimes too! Looks like a lot of fun!

Mom and Aunt Dee loved that tour - they were talking about it nonstop for the next two days (until they went to Le Cirq...). I told DH if we ever get to go without the kids, we're doing that tour. He'd have a blast...and he'd get good video of me falling down. Though if my mom can do it, I think anyone can!

They take people in the Jedi training until they're 12...too young for your guys? Oh, and my DH found that shirt for Tim online. He googled "rock paper scissors lizard spock t-shirt" and found a ton. It might have taken him a little bit to find the one he did, but it was definitely the best one. We watched a repeat last night and laughed out loud...I love that show. We soooooo get all of the sci-fi references - even me, and I'm nowhere near the die-hard my DH is!

aboard!

We really did enjoy CBR. It was really beautiful, and a great step up for us from the All-Stars. And we enjoyed having everyone along, too. DH is working on the Photopass CD, and you can see that everyone seemed to have fun, no matter what the age. I think the trick was that everyone struck out on their own whenever they felt like it.

You'd enjoy Sunshine Seasons...as long as you're not looking for chicken nuggets, hot dogs, or plain pasta. Other than that, they have something for just about everyone. We have an eclectic group in terms of eating, and everyone (except my children) found something that sounded good to them. The desserts alone are worth a stop.
