Tower Club versus Atrium Club at the CR

Any differences besides less rooms due to suites and lack of the open Atrium on the Tower Level.

Tower Club is a few hundred more than the Atrium Club for a six night stay in the fall.

I noticed that the standard rooms that do exist on the Tower Club level aren't the same layout or decor as the standard rooms in the rest of the hotel. I didn't like the look of them and I've read that the layout is strange. I was happy to have the regular decor and layout on the Atrium level.

Here is the differences between both floors that I wrote on the Contemporary FAQ thread.

Quote:
Difference between the 2 Club Level floors

The Atrium Club Magic Kingdom View and Bay Lake View became available by reservation on 01/09/09. Prior to that all you needed was an Atrium Club reservation and you would end up with either view.

With the Tower Club there are a total of 16 rooms, 5 standard rooms and 11 suites: 1 & 2 Bedroom Suites, a Vice Presidential Suite and a Presidential Suite. With the standard rooms, there is no guarantee of a Magic Kingdom or Bay Lake View. However with the Suites, you will be booked into a particular view which will indicate the Magic Kingdom View or Bay Lake View. Finally there are 4 Standard Magic Kingdom View rooms and 1 standard Bay Lake View room.

The lounge on the 12th floor is bigger with more seating then the 14th floor Club Level. They converted 3 standard rooms into the 12th floor lounge, so there are 3 balconies available on the MK side for all Club Level guests to watch the fireworks. The lounge on the 14th floor also offers seating outside on the balcony, which is something that is not offered on the 12th floor lounge.

In the 14th floor rooms their mini fridges will already have cans Coke, Diet Coke, water and apple juice. The mini fridges for the rooms on the 12th floor are not stocked like the ones on the 14th floor, however anyone staying on the 12th floor can always take those items from the lounge themselves and put them in there.

The balconies in the rooms and the lounge on the 14th floor are bigger then balconies in the rooms and lounge on the 12th floor.

Finally both floors serve the exact same foods for breakfast, afternoon snacks, 5:00 PM hors d'oeuvres and 8:00 PM deserts & cordials. The 12th floor Atrium Club is less expensive then the 14th floor Tower Club, even though on both floors offer the exact same service. The 14th floor is more expensive because fewer number of total rooms and Suites.

just home last night from 5 nights in tower club in a 1 bedroom suite. We were upgraded from atrium club mk view to a mk view suite. The room layout of the bedroom part did not appear weird to me, it was very similar to regular CR rooms, the parlour part was HUGE, it alone had two balconies, plus the one for the bedroom.

CR Fan-

Any comment about the "strange layout" in the Tower Level rooms?

Schrute Farms, I will say this, our "bedroom" part of the suite appeared narrower than a standard Contemporary room. We had a normal closet layout, then the dresser with flat screen tv on it, then a table and chairs on one wall, the other wall had the bathroom (different layout than standard CR bathroom, lots more spacious), and the two beds. There was not a daybed in that room. I don't know for sure if the rooms on our end of the MK side were laid out that way because of the "suite" part, but if you need the daybed you may want to question the room size. It didn't bother us because the parlor/living room was huge and had a dining table and six chairs along with a sleeper sofa and four occasional chairs, along with two barstools at the wet bar and a desk and chair.

Just to be clear I am not asking about the suites in the Tower Level. Just the standard rooms versus standard rooms in the Atrium Club.

I honestly never noticed a "strange layout" because I have stayed in a standard room on both the 12th floor and the 14th floor.

The bedrooms in the 1 and 2 bedroom suites on the 14th floor are the same as the standard 14th floor (CW, CY) rooms.
They just have aliving room added on to the bedroom.
Only bedrooms different are the Pres and Vice Pres.

rcraw, how fabulous for you! THe 14th Tower Club is one of my favorite CLs.
What was your opinion?

Lulu, the staff was amazing, always smiling and offering to help! Complete night & day from our last CL experience, the WL.

We stayed in room 4912 on the 14th floor in December and then in 12th floor rooms in Jan and May.

The decor is different. I guess it depends on whether a hotel room's decor is that important to you.

Craig has lots of standard room photos at his site:
http://www.contemporaryresort.net/standard_room.html

Those are the same for any floor in the tower except the 14th floor.

Here's Craigs link to pictures of 4912 (the room we had):
http://www.contemporaryresort.net/room4912.html

Not sure how much different the standard 2 queen rooms on 14 are, but I'm guessing they're similar to the king room.

We loved that they still have regular sinks in the bathrooms on 14.

Not sure if they're still doing this, but the one other thing we noticed was that our fridge on 14 was stocked with beverages (2 Cokes, 2 Diet Cokes, 2 Sprites, and 2 lemonades).

On 12 we had to do that ourselves. No biggie, because beverages are available at the club lounge.

Shoot - thought of one more (I should have drafted this first then posted - sorry).

Although the room did seem a bit shorter (from foyer to balcony), it wasn't much. And the balcony on 14 is MUCH deeper than the balcony on 12.

Oh, oh. I didn't mean to start any controversy. I was talking about the standard rooms on 14, not the bedroom part of the suites. The information that turned me off the 14th floor and made me decide to stay on the 12th floor was this:

http://www.contemporaryresort.net/room4911.html

I just like the usual decor better and the description of the rooms as being two of the worst on property didn't reassure me, so we stuck with the 12th floor.
