Bugs Eating My Flowers!!!

Some sort of bug is eating the foliage on some of my plants (some spearmint, an Easter Lily, and another unknown perennial.) They are leaving big and little holes in the leaves.

I have no idea what is eating the foliage, but we do have a crazy amount of "Roly Poly" bugs in our soil, whether or not that is related, I don't know. I have yet to see a single Japanese Ladybug, and we were out in the yard all weekend.

What can I put down to keep the bugs away?

Slugs are probably eating your plants...lovely creatures, arent they?

I use a product called Es-car-go. Just something you sprinkle around the plants. After using it for a few weeks I was slug free for several years.

You can find it by googling it.

Same thing happened to my plants! Slugs make sense. Love the name of that product!

Thanks, will have a look for it.

It's slugs. A home remedy to get them is place small bowls at the base of your plants filled with beer. They will be attracted to the beer and drown in it! Works for me with my hostas. Good luck!! Oh, you'll need to replace the beer every couple of days or so and also get rid of the dead guys.......

I saw my first Japanese beetle this weekend. Grrrr...

We use Sevin on all our plants to kill the pests. Not Organic or good for you, I'm sure, but it kills them--including the Japanese Beetles.

I use beer traps, too. The slug and snail baits are not good for critters and if you have pets in the yard you will want to be especially careful.
