Also interested in seeing some updated menu options or reviews! Just booked for May 2014 - one vegetarian and two vegans.

Especially interested in any updates or reviews pertaining to the specific vegetarian/vegan menus (Jiko, San Angel Inn, La Hacienda, etc.).

I'm hoping for some restaurant suggestions for some upcoming trips:

January - marathon weekend trip with my boyfriend - we're both vegan

February - princess half trip with my sister, she's not vegan but not a big meat eater

June - family trip with the in-laws, one mostly vegetarian but eats fish,, one meat eater and us two vegans

We like sit down meals mostly, but some counter service.. We especially need some good ideas for EPCOT meals..

In June we'll also be celebrating 2 birthdays and may want to get a cake, any suggestions? We'll only be at WDW a few days and then be getting on the Fantasy! Super excited!!!

Thank you Dani C for the luau advice. We had a quick trip in July and I was able to book both Hollywood and Vine and Crystal Palace on different days for lunch. The amount of vegan options were amazing! H&V walked us through buffet pointing out 5 different salads, veggies and the pasta station. THey even brought out vegan meatballs and rolls for us. Then in case we weren't full enough they brought us out sundaes with cookies. Crystal palace also had salads, rolls etc. chef made us sweet potatoes with cinnamon like on the children's buffet but no butter....they were so good. We also had a great brownie sundae here. In talking to the chefs both times we found they like when people ask about vegan options. They said it gives them more of a reason to add vegan options on there buffet line. I like the sound of that! Oh and don't forget Downtown Disney, baby cakes all vegan and the counter service right near it has rice, beans and falafel sandwiches which can be made vegan when made with a wrap and no sauce. They also have a vegan chili.

Is there anywhere in Disney to buy almond milk or soy milk? I'm really wondering if the trading post at fort wilderness has cartons of this? My DS will be very unhappy if we go all week without

I'm not sure about Fort Wilderness, but I know for sure that Pop Century's food court has both soy milk and rice milk in little cartons. Sunshine Seasons also has both milks.

Hello everybody. I just got back from a week in Disney and wanted to share a few of my good and bad dining experience as a vegan. 1900 park fare dinner- Great experience. They had vegan samosas on the buffet. The chief came out and offered to make more food and I told her it was ok I can eat what thy had out. She did make me a surprise dessert. It was a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich with chocolate ice cream with fruit and almonds. Very good but had to wait 15 minutes for it. Coral Reef lunch - awful. I was so excited to eat at coral reef. They had a vegan item on the menu and got to sit next to the big fish tank. I did find it a little odd that half the menu was fish and your surrounded by a fish tank. Kids make sure to eat all your fish while watching them swim past you. Just very weird to me. Everything was great besides that thought that kept going through my head. Dessert was a big problem. I was offered .... Grapes! Really your going to give me grapes in a cup nothing else just grapes when everyone is eating a fabulous dessert! That's exactly what happened. It took forever for my grapes. Total time in the restaurant was a little over two hours. Felt like everyone moved in reverse. Will never go to coral reef again. 50's prime - Awful. Now I did hear many positive experiences with this place catering to vegans so I was so excited to go. The lasagna on the menu wasn't vegan so the chief said he can make pasta with vegan meatballs, sauce and vegetables. I asked about the peanut butter and jelly milkshake and he looked at me like I had five heads. He also offered me for dessert.... Grapes! I told him I would like some kind of soy ice cream If possible. I was brought out a vanilla milkshake and plain pasta with three meatballs on top. No sauce nothing just plain. I was so hungry I just stared to eat it. The waitress finally came over and saw what one of the cooks brought out and said oh no this is wrong. Why did they just give you plain noodles? So she took it away and I had to wait once again or my food. When it came back it still had no vegetables. For dessert I was brought two scoops of vanilla soy ice cream with nothing on it. Again we were inside for a little over two hours. will never eat at again. Crystal palace breakfast- Ok. The only thing on the buffet was potatoes. The chief said he would make pancakes which took forever and when I finally got them they weren't cooked all the way. He made three pancakes and all three had pancake batter running out when I cut them open. I didn't say anything and just didn't eat because it took so long to receive the uncooked pancakes imagine waiting for cooked. I felt awful because everyone was waiting for my food to be done and magic kingdom was already opened by the time we got out. Sunshine seasons dinner- loved it! For a quick service they were amazing. Better then the table service meals I had. Vegan beef and a vegan chocolate bar! I think everybody should try this place. Sanaa- The best! The best service, the best food, the best dessert rice pudding, even the best waitstaff. They were amazing. I stayed at POR and they made vegan waffles which were great. I'm still confused about the pasta because I thought I read the pesto sauce was vegan somewhere and when I asked the cook said it was and named all the ingredients. Then as they were about to make it the head chief came out and said it wasn't so I took him word and didn't get it. So I am a little upset about some of well most of my dining experiences. I'm angry that they take forever and it really messes your day up. I felt awful this whole trip because I was with all meat eaters and I was holding them up. They were getting annoyed that they were all finished eating and we were still waiting for my food to arrive. The worst was when we got ice cream on day everybody's ice cream melted while waiting for mine. Now I'm returning next September but instead for it being a total of three adults and a child it will be 6 adults and three children. I'm a little nervous that I'm going to make that many people have to wait for me. Any suggestions?

I think that that's something omnivores don't...can't, really...let bother them. But it sure was something that would have bothered me!

Had you marked your ADRs as having dietary issues, or sent your ADR info to the special diets people at WDW? Did they have a head's up for the ADRs? It seems that they were really unprepared, so I wonder if they knew ahead of time or not.

Don't let the kitchen's ineptitude make you think your friends/family are annoyed with YOU. And don't let them BE annoyed with you if they are! It's not your fault. WDW is usually terrific with food issues, and it's not your fault that they were falling down on the job in your situations.

So besides making sure that WDW knows there will be a vegan at the table for your upcoming ADRs, you should talk with your friends/relatives and work out the issue of them waiting. If I were having problems with my food I wouldn't want my dining mates to be waiting on me! That would drive me up a wall. If it bugged you, talk about it ahead of time to make sure they know that they can eat while you work things out.

Yikes, this is what makes me nervous! We're going in 3 weeks and it's our first time since I've become vegan, my husband is a new vegetarian and our kids, well, they just eat kid food.

My plan is to just order the vegetarian entree or salads... or just order a few sides and make my own "veggie plate" like I do in restaurants here at home.

I think I'll just say "no cheese" or "hold the egg and bacon" from the salads and stuff.

I am excited to try the vegan booth at Food & Wine, as well as the goodies at Baby Cakes.

Here's to wishful thinking!

The whole story was awful, but this is the part that still has me scratching my head. Not only do they offer you grapes, but they take forever bringing them! I'm imagining the dessert chef jumping in his car and driving down the highway to the farmer's market, then coming back and washing each grape individually in a tiny bathtub with a little sponge and beach towel.

And it's not even like September is a busy time of the year!

I haven't made ADR's with the new system yet, but making whatever kind of note you can on your reservations and then contacting Special Diets ahead of time if you can is probably the way to go.

Don't be nervous!! Disney is amazing when catering to allergies and special diets. To make things easier, I plan ahead. When I make ADRs, I always mention dairy and egg allergies. When I arrive, the chef always comes out to speak with us. If there is not a vegan item already on the menu, they will create something for you. I usually ask for stir-fries with rice and tofu (if available). My husband is happy with pasta and marinara sauce.

For dessert, they usually have soy or rice ice cream. Some chefs will dress them up with chocolate sauce, sprinkles, cookies, and fruit. If they do not have vegan ice cream (such as Via Napoli or Rose & Crown), they'll offer a fruit sorbet.

Enjoy your trip!

A couple random questions:
1. Does anyone know if the sorbets at the new ice cream/sorbet place in the France are vegan? I tend to think of sorbets as vegan, but don't want to assume.
2. Anyone happen to know if there may be dark chocolate covered strawberries (or other fruit) offered anywhere in the World with vegan dark chocolate?

I did make all the ADRs checking off dairy, fish, milk etc. allergies and even called the dining number and had them note it on the reservations . I also called to have them put in that it was my sons 3rd birthday and not one restaurant gave him a birthday cupcake. I went to disney a for a week in feb/march also. I didn't experience any of awful service that I had received this past week but I did try all new restaurants this time. The grapes and long wait had me very confused also. It was really just a cup of grapes nothing else. You would have to see it to believe it lol.
