Hewlitt Packard employees

Are there any perks for HP employees?

Also, I know HP sponsors Mission: Space. Is there a special lounge for them somewhere like Spaceship Earth and Test Track have (used to have?) for their employees?

The only perk for us HP'rs is a small discount on tickets (if purchased through the employee program) an access to the lounge for a refresh and a drink before taking the short cut to the actual Mission Space ride.

Don't forget to bring your HP ID when you go!!!

When I was there in 2007, I didn't have my badge, but I gave them my employee number. They still let my family in. A coworker is at the World this week ( for her!), so I'll ask what she did when she gets back.

that is awesome news if it works! I was paranoid the entire trip that I would lose my id (as i work out of a Secure Datacenter location and even though Security knows me by name, i still have to show my ID)..

If i can leave it (and reminders about work) at home... then all the better!

1) I would not trust them letting you in on just your say-so.
2) That is why they want a company ID.
3) I think the other guy just got lucky.

I guess I did make it sound like I just walked up, said I worked at HP, and they let me in. But...

I had my employee number and my drivers' license. They had a computer there where they could look up my employee record and see that yes, my photo ID, birth dates, address, and my employee number matched and that yes, I really did work for HP.

However, that was three years ago. They may not be willing to do that anymore or it may depend on the good graces of whoever is working that day. Obviously it would be best to bring your badge to prove employment.

To the UK HP employee -- I would think this program would apply to you. It couldn't hurt to stop by to ask! Bring your badge.

We just may try the employee number bit. My DH works for HP but doesn't have a badge. He was an EDS employee and works from home. We talked about trying to get in the lounge last year but he was pretty glum about the whole thing, having had a bad couple months with the company.

I just went out to the HP Intranet. The lounge is called the Red Planet Room. According to the web page (dated March 2005), you just need to show your HP ID badge when entering the ride, and then proceed to the Red Planet Room. It's open from 9am to 5pm weekdays.

The web page says at the lounge you can sip a drink and get VIP seats. There is a link to pictures of the room, but it doesn't work any more. There is a trivia statistic that says as of 2004 more than 10,000 HP employees, retirees, and customers have visited the lounge.

I guess I'm taking my badge with me. I want to see this.
