Is the main pool still closed for renovation? Any idea when it is re-opening?

I do like the increased seating as well as it being well lit. I know I am in the minority but I did not care for the old water fall, but the new one seems a bit underwhelming.

I also like that you can see through the lobby. Unfortunately I will be be comfortable in the lobby which means my wife will have more time to shop in the stores!

Yeah ... if I'm honest, I really like the new lobby in general. Great lighting, cool theming, more open feel to the general seating areas. I like it a lot. I just don't like the dinky waterfall. I feel like they were going to take out the water feature entirely and then compromised. They ended up with the water feature version of Spinal Tap's Stonehenge.

I miss the old waterfall but I understand their reasons for replacing it. I actually love the look of this Poly. It seems like a great place to just hang out. I'm going to have to book another visit here for when the construction is totally done.

Like others, I'm underwhelmed by it. I have difficulty understanding why it took so long with the lobby when it appears they mainly removed some features, especially the waterfall, rather than updating things. It is certainly more open and it appears the check-in area will be handier for the guests and CMs alike (the gaps between the check-in stands will be useful I think). I hope there is something more dramatic planned for the lava rock pile than just a lava rock pile with sparse plant life in it (please don't tell me those are fake plants). To have that as the lobby's signature feature rather than the waterfall is a pretty big comedown. I'm not convinced they couldn't have updated/upgraded/replaced the water feature with another water feature just as dramatic but easier to maintain.

It's ok, but I wouldn't say I'm impressed. I still think it looks dated... That would be fine if they were trying to give it that "70's" feel, but I don't think it was Disney's intent. I still also miss the waterfall the old lobby had.

I'm not a huge Poly fan. I was sort of hoping that I would like it more in its latest incarnation. This is pretty, but it doesn 't have the "I've entered another world" feeling that you get in the lobby of AKL, WL or GF.

Went to see it yesterday, we were very underwhelmed. It was very pretty - lots of open spaces and a beautiful light fixture. I did like how much more natural light there is in the lobby now - you can see all the way out to the lake. The new "waterfall" looked like a big pile of coal. I will say that it was not working yesterday, so it may look better when it is functional. My whole family missed the "old" lobby.

To the PP who asked about the pool being finished. They were still taking down the volcano yesterday and there was netting surrounding the whole pool area, so I am guessing that the pool isn't open yet.

I think I just read that the gold tiki man will still be placed on top of the water feature, so that will kind of bring that together. It doesn't have wow factor, but it is pretty and much brighter than before. I can't wait for our stay in September!

Toured it Sunday night and saw the Christmas characters. I agree with the sentiment that it is underwhelming. Open with lots of seating and tastefully done, but nothing that you can't see in any open hotel across the country. The new waterfall is too small, I mean small. For all those Poly lovers who know what the lobby use to be I think disappointment and maybe worse will be your first reaction.

It's the saddest DVC-ification they've done yet. They took what made the Poly unique and turned it into yet another generic lobby with a few net floats to make it "Polynesian". Very disappointing.

If I weren't told this was Disney I could walk in and it would look like any other Marriott, Westin, Hilton, Hyatt, etc. Three cheers to the McPoly!
It's good for the soul when there's not a soul in sight.
