Best Resort for an Infant?

I haven't posted in a while. Our last trip was over a year ago when we didn't have kids. Now we have a new baby and we are planning on going back to WDW sometime this year. We were planning on going at the end of May beginning of June, August or waiting until the week before Christmas. I am thinking May will the be best option for us. But my question is which resorts are best for infants he will be 4 1/2 months old in May. I was thinking of Staying at a moderate or at WL or AKL if I can get a good enough discount I may stay at another deluxe. I love Pop but I think we might be to crowded in a value. Plus we need a fridge for his formula.

Which resort would you choose if you were taking a baby?

I would look into the Contemporary because they are the closest resort to the Magic Kingdom, the only one with a walkway that goes there, Resort Monorail access and their rooms are some of the biggest of the Deluxe Resorts.

If you can do it. I would suggest The Polynesian. We started staying there when my DS was a baby. I always requested a ground floor near the Great Ceremonial House. It made things very convenient. Really any of the Monorail Resorts are great when you have a little one. Jump on the monorail, visit the park. If you need to go back to the room for a nap, it doesn't take long at all. I liked the ground floor because we didn't have to worry about stairs or elevators. Even babies get heavy when you're carrying them when they're sleeping!

If you can do it, stay at a deluxe with a view. The balcony is very nice during naps or when your little one goes to bed early at night. We stayed at Kidani in October and I spent most of DS's naptimes on the balcony watching the animals (when I didn't need a nap too.) Definitely better than sitting in a dark room

we stayed at the BC w/the baby and it was great... keeping the baby in the stroller to get to three parks was awesome (boat to DHS, walk to Epcot, walk thru Epcot and monorail to MK) 'cause folding it and hauling it on the bus was a pita!

Going at Christmas, I'd go with the WL. No contest. AKL is a bit far removed from everywhere else.

Agreed - AKL is very far out. The WL is beautiful at Christmas, but with a baby I wouldnt necessarily do it. You have to fold up your stroller if you use the boat transportation. With the monorail you dont have to fold it up- just roll it on. Go for a monorail resort if possible.

Thanks for the input. Now I just have to convince my DH to stay at a monorail resort.

If it's affordable, I would go with the Poly . The Poly is a beautiful resort and the monorail would be very convenient with a stroller .

we were able to leave our stroller open w/child in it on most boats... the only one i recall having a problem with was POR to DTD... otherwise we rolled that baby right on, kid intact!

The only boats that you can leave the stroller open on are the big ones, the resort launch to and from the CR/WL is too small to allow it. The large boat that goes to the MK has big enough aisles to allow it.

The Poly would be my choice, no question. You can walk to the TTC and hop on the monorail to Epcot, all without having to fold up your stroller. And you can hop right on the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Plus if you need to call it an evening early, you can go to the beach and watch the fireworks go off over the Magic Kingdom.

The Contemporary would be a good choice too, as you can walk right to the Magic Kingdom. It is usually a bit cheaper than the Poly too.

having been with a toddler three times, you need a place with a balcony. When baby goes down for their many naps, you want a place to hang out so you aren't making tons of noise. You also want to be close to the resort you plan on visiting the most. Make that a monorail resort or even Epcot resort. If you go during the week, you can rent a studio with DVC points for fairly cheap!

Having traveled to WDW with DD at age 1 and again at 22 months I highly reccomend a monorail resort. We stayed at Poly with her when she was 1 and it was so convenient to put her in her stroller wheel her onto the monorail and go to MK. No bus or car seat! When she was 22 months we stayed at AKL - very nice resort but I hated having to strap her into her carseat everytime we wanted to go somewhere! The monorail resorts are more expensive but so much more convenient.
We are planning our 2010 trip and we are either staying at GF or Poly.
Also I ditto the suggestion of a balcony. DD would fight her naps with us awake in the room so I spent a lot of time on the balcony reading.
