Football

Ok, we are huge Alabama Fans (Roll Tide!) and we play Miss St. on the last Saturday of our cruise. This will be a huge game so I'm sure CBS will have it since they get first pick. That keeps it off of ESPN or ABC. What are our options? We're out of luck aren't we? I was thinking my best bet is just to pay for an Internet package and use my Score Mobile app to get the live updates. I guess I'm asking is there even a chance they will play a CBS game on the ship (Magic)?

In my opinion there is probably very little chance. They did show the Sunday night NFL game while on board and that was an NBC game. But I doubt they would do that for college football. I would look into whether the unlimited data package on the ship is worth it to you and perhaps watch it online.

I figured However, I've read where the service on the ship isn't fast enough for videos.

On the Wonder I tested download speed was 24Mbps.... that was as fast as most home connections! A 1gb package is $89 with a bonus 50mb if you order on day one of the cruise. I say go sign up for a 1gb package and let us know how many minutes it lasts you. If you run out, then decide whether it's worth getting another gb.

The question is whether your app has the ability to throttle the speeds or reduce the video size to extend the data package.

It's other cruise lines that charge time based internet that is super slow. I refuse to get internet on HAL or Princess.

Are you in a port on Saturday? Perhaps get a land cellular package. That may be a second option.

Typically games of limited regional appeal on CBS are not avaiable on DCL. Enjoy your cruise!

A big, if the satellite can receive the game:
Any bar onboard or your stateroom will have the game on. In the public lounges, if your game is not on, no one is watching what is on, you can ask, and in most cases they will change to your game.

Ala...who??!

"Limited regional appeal" - apparently not an avid college football watcher...

I would be very surprised if the game was not on in the sports lounge. I think you have a better than average chance of seeing the game. When we were there they had all sorts of pro games on from different stations. Perhaps since Disney/ABC/ESPN you would have been better off if it was ESPN!

Have fun - good luck.

I live in Syracuse, NY (with no rooting interest), and I would be very disappointed if I couldn't watch the CBS SEC broadcast onboard!

Yeah, I wasn't going to say anything about the limited regional appeal bc I know us Bammers can get a bad rap but we will be playing the #1 team in the nation for a spot in the top 4 so... Thanks for giving me hope!!!

Try the sport bar on the ship, that will probably be your best bet. They normally won't show a football game on funnel vision unless it's a playoff game. They did have the NFL playoff games on funnel vision, but I've never seen a regular season game on it.

They had regular season NFL games on the funnel vision while we were on board a couple of weeks ago.

Yeah no offense to sec country but yes it is limited regional appeal... Largely (not all) but most college football fans are focused on the local schools/conference or the school they went to...That's why there is passion... Bc you have roots there and ties to the school.

Who's your team? Just curious. I'm not surprised that Miss St is in the top spot right now. Just hope they get knocked down
