The crowds will depend on whether or not they offer free dining at that time. If yes - then it will be a little crowded - mostly at the food places - but manageable.

The weather....well it is hurricane season. Make sure you keep your ponchos handy!!

You'll have a great time no matter what, I'm sure!!

I'm going too first two weeks of September.

Unfortunately 'a lot' cooler and less humid? No.

I've been both months you listed and it's sorta like Tennessee, difference is a dry heat and a wet heat. September is still very warm and it can be very humid with scattered rain showers.

We've been in September 3 years in a row - and we're going again this year!

It's very low crowd-wise but it's very hot. Always in the 90's. Very humid. I have to wear a hat every day or my hair looks like Monica's on that "Friends" episode when she was in Jamaica...

It rains - short spurts but major storms. Lightning, yes. We've been on boats that have pulled over and made us get off - in the pouring rain. It get a bit scary for the younger kiddos.

Overall - even with the negatives - we think it's the best time of year to go! We love it! If they announce free dining - it will absolutely fill up all the ADRs, so get them booked the day you can!!!!!!!!!!

hurricanes

FYI, September is the absolute peak of the Atlantic hurricane season, particularly the first half. I hope that doesn't scare you off; if it makes you feel better, we're going in September also. Having been in Orlando for hurricanes Frances and Jeanne (missed Charley by a couple weeks) back in 2004, I'm not worried at all, even if a hurricane does happen to blow through.

Oh, and as far as the temperature goes, it was my opinion back in '04 that it was pretty hot, but really not unbearable. I actually thought May was hotter (I've been twice in May).

We were there during the first two weeks of last September, it was very hot & only rained a couple of times. The crowds were fairly light & most rides were walk ons with the exception of Toy Story Mania in DHS which was about 45 mins - sounds a long time but compared to Aug '08 which was 2 hrs it isn't at all.

Have a wonderful time.

We took a long weekend and went over Labor Day last year. Great time to go. Did have to put up with some afternoon/evening showers, and there was a hurricane around before we got there, but you talk about an empty park, this was it. TSM and Soarin' were the longest waits (45-60 minutes) by far.

I'm glad to see this as we will be there the last week of September ourselves. And I got the hours for our vacation and I scheduled the MNSSHP correctly. Now just to wait for free dining and when tickets go on sale for Halloween.

We have been several times in September. Because of 'free dining', its often imperitive that you make dining reservations if you would like to eat at Table Service restaurants, but other than that - almost everything else is wait/crowd free. The other exception being Fantasmic! because they dont hold the show very often due to the low crowds.

As far as the weather - it is very humid and when the sun is out its hot - last year there were several 95+ degree days. Luckily with the low crowds we were still able to enjoy the parks at our own pace and since we were on the DxDP we always got a good dose of air conditioning at lunch to cool us off for the afternoon!

To feel less gross during the day, We brought a small soft cooler in my backpack. Every night we would take a few washcloths, soak them in water, put them each in their own zip lock bag, and chill them in the fridge (no freezer at POFQ). We'd put the wash cloth bags and some waters in the cooler bag and they would still be cool at 3pm!

Its also important to bring or plan to buy rain ponchos...and if you have a stroller - leave it covered with one when you go inside - as you almost cant predict the 5-10 minute rain storm! The rains usually pass quickly and I think only once I can remember really really heavy rains for days that ruined vacations so again not a show stopper usually!!

Enjoy! We are not going until December this year - I will miss the warmth and the MNSSHP of September!!
