i just talked to my sister and told her about the meet and she said she'd love to meet people from my 'cult'

so she's also going to skip the 2 pm lecture and come along with me..

my sister's really great!!! as is my mom....

so that makes 3 of us at the mini-meet!!

be gentle with them though - they're not exactly disney haters, but they're definitely not disneyholics (the 'family' in my screen name refers to DH, DD and DS)....

can't wait to meet everyone!!!!!!!

I don't think I will be done at universal that early. Perhaps I can call in!lol Have fun guys I hope I can get there in time! I will be around untill 29th so I will keep an eye out for green and orange mickey heads!

anyone have a lime green mickey head i can print out?
but where would i stick it? i don't have a stroller, don't have anything i can hang it on.....
i could paint my face lime green...wouldn't that be attractive

I vote for lime green face paint.

The Tambu Lounge is pretty empty until it gets close to the opening of Ohana's so you could probably assume that those there are part of the meet. The first person to arrive should notify the bartender that he is going to be busier than normal. Just called the Poly to double check and it opens at 1:00 pm.

Like others, this is my first meet and it may take a bit to warm up.

Home depot disney paint sample, ailen green. they are small I laminate it and hung it from my bag. They have the orange as well which I think is the official"podcast" color.

i didn't mean for the meet....i have a feeling we'll all be rather obvious
i meant for the rest of my trip...i arrive on june 14th......it would be fun to say 'hi' to other disers when i'm there....

We are all getting real close to our trips, anyone packing yet? I have some things put aside but not much, I am alone this trip so I should be able to pack quick, I am excited but it will be the first time away from my son for more than a day. Anyhow I can't wait to try wdw in a new way, solo! Sort of my inlaws will be with me. What are you all looking forward to/getting ready?

i bought a new purse and suitcase a few days ago....i haven't been on a plane in 3 years and my old suitcases were just too heavy (without even putting anything into them)...and i bought 3 pairs of lightweight trousers for WDW - so those went straight into the suitcase....

but now i'm not sure i'll be traveling....i'm not sure what's happening...
this trip started out as a trip to attend a conference on hereditary cancer together with my sister and mom...
and since the conference is in WDW, i decided i'd arrive 9 days early so that i could get my WDW fix on my own first....
but 2 days ago, my nephew (my sisters son) had a terrible accident....
no one is actually sure what happened since the doorman found him lying on the floor.....there are suspicions that he may have been attacked with a baseball bat or something like that (because of how his head was smashed)....
(i should add that he lives a luxury apartment building in Chicago, so it's even more shocking if it was an attack rather than him slipping and hitting his head on the marble floor)..
but in any case, he was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood, with his head completely smashed....
he was rushed to the hospital for major brain surgery ...his head was so smashed they had to put in multiple metal plates....anyway....he's been in intensive care since the surgery (he was very lucky - he lives right near one the top brain surgery facilities in the world....of course, if he were really lucky, none of this would have happened)..

last night he was moved out of the ICU to a regular room...so that's good..
but he's going to need a lot of therapy and assistance (we don't know his prognosis yet, but whatever it is will take a very long time)..

so i really don't know what my sister is going to want to do....if she decides not to go to the conference, then there will be no reason for my trip to disney...
the point was to go to be with her (my sister has 3 different kinds of cancer - ovarian, breast and small cell lung)....so maybe i'll just fly to detroit? or rather Chicago, since that's where her son lives and is hospitalized...

i should add that her son is the most incredible person.... brilliant, talented, incredibly funny, and so very handsome (tall, blond, leading man type looks).....how do these things happen????

so i'm not sure what's happening....i haven't asked my sister yet as that was the last thing she had to think about right now..(this happened on Wednesday afternoon)...
i'm supposed to fly on the night of the 13th....that's a week from tomorrow...
i'll have to make the final decision a few days in advance so that i can cancel everything...

Oh my goodness! That's terrible! I hope your nephew will be ok, sounds like they found him just in time!

I am so sorry to hear your news. My wife worked in a trauma center and they would be very reluctant to release someone to a regular ward unless they were sure they would not be coming back so that is good news. Thoughts and pixie dust sending to your family. Let us know how things are going.
