ticket question

Hi I apologize in advance if this is not the place for this. I did read the entire ticket tread but still have a question. I currently have annual passes, they don't expire until July and Aug, but I'm going in June and wish to renew then I have 10 day park hopper water park fun and more passes that I wish to use to help pay for the renewal/ First question is this. The 10 day tickets I have I know have never been used they are all mine but they are discounted and I mean really discounted. They are legal but they are really at a discounted price. Will they still bridge the price? I hear yes they will since they don't penalize you since you got hem cheap. I have hear no. Which is correct? I hear use them first I hear don't use them first. I think I'm correct in believing that if I only want the regular annual not the premium I can't use the water park part of the tickets is that correct. I want to have it all sorted out before going and having a situation at the gate. I have called the ticket area and received many diff stories so who knows what is correct, thanks in advance

First of all you can only renew an AP within a 61 day window, which is 30 days on either side of the expiration date.

Next is that it is better to upgrade a MYW ticket that was bought at less than the current gate price by using it first; that locks in the CGP. I would strongly suggest that before you go you be aware of the gate prices of both the ticket you have and the AP renewal rate, plust the 6.5% tax on the difference. If the person in the booth wants to charge you more than that, question the transaction.

If you have not used any of the WPF&M entries you can upgrade to a regular AP; if you have used any of the SPF&M entries you can only upgrade to a PAP.

And the magic words are "I would like to upgrade this ticket to an AP at the renewal rate".

You might want to look at the Everything About WDW Tickets locked sticky in this Forum. Especially the items bolded in the list below.

The policy is that no change is returned. If someone had a 10 day non-expiring hopper with water park fun, the gate price of that is more than the renewal regular annual pass. It would be more cost effetive to renew the AP for all cash and save the 10 day for a future trip.

If you are already at the park, it is a no-brainer to use the brand new ticket prior to upgrading. There is a Guest Relations booth just inside the turnstiles where you can upgrade. Upgrade to AP cannot be done at resorts.

Hotel scam! Someone "from the front desk" calls your room phone or knocks on the door, usually after midnight, asking for your credit card number to complete your billing or you will be kicked out. Don't give it to him. It can wait until dawn when you stop by the front desk. This includes Disney's resorts too.

thanks to both. It is not a non expiring ticket just a 10 day park hopper water park fun and more. If I use 1 day of it at a park and I will not use the water park part to look in the price must I then renew it at a premium ticket?

Just entering a theme park with the ticket, you can upgrade to regular AP and the entire gate price, water park fun and all, is applied.

The end result is the same as if you got the regular AP from the git-go, which hypothetical scenario could not have taken place if you did enter a water park first.

so is it only if I enter a water park that holds me to having to upgrade to premium annual?

You can renew over the phone.

To renew any sort of Annual Pass it must be done within 30 days of either side of the expiration date. Note that upgrading or downgrading of any annual product may be done at the special renewal rate.

Normally this is done at any park (including water park or TTC) ticket booth or any Guest Relations Office (including DTD). It cannot be done at a Resort.

If you renew prior to the expiration date, the new pass will not be valid until the expiration date of the old pass. If you renew after the expiration date the effective date will bve backdated. In any event, using the renewal rate will have the new pass expire on the same date the next year. (See Post #19A for current special 15 month promotion.)

If you have a MYW ticket you may upgrade that ticket to a WSP, SP, AP or PAP at the renewal rate just as any other upgrade as long as you are within the renewal window. The rules for expiration date stay the same as any other renewal.

If you are not at WDW you can get a voucher at the renewal rate sent to you. However, this can be a multi-edged sword.

If you renew within one year after the expiration date of your current pass it will be just the same as if you renewed at WDW with the expiration date one year from the date of the old pass. If you will be activating the voucher more than a month or two away you might find that it would have been better to pay the full price and have the anniversary date changed.

While a voucher for purchase of an AP is valid forever and may be exchanged without penalty after several years the rules for a renewal are different.

As stated above, with a renewal voucher used within a year from expiration it will not change the expiration date. However, if it is used more than a year from the expiration date the value will only be what you paid for the voucher toward the current gate price of a new AP. so you will have to pay more on redemption.

You will not be able to apply the purchase price of the 10 day ticket whose initial 14 day usage period is in June, towards renewing the annual pass whose anniversary is in August.
