LOL .Big surprise, but just enjoy the beautiful moments, as long as happy to see the children smile, do not care about other things.

I think you either love wdw or you don't. I have friends and family that fall in both camps. I have also noticed similar personality traits in both camps. My family thinks that you need to go somewhere different every year. It doesnt matter if you enjoy it or not just that experience something different. I just don't have a high enough income like they do to experiment with vacations. I spend a ton of money at disney. We stay at deluxe resorts and get deluxe dining, but we always have a great time so I am comfortable with it.

This is the third time we are going in the last four years and we get the questions too. The thing that shuts them up is that one of our sons is autistic and on each trip he has grown so much that we couldn't even think about not coming back. First words, first time on rides....etc.

Once we explain the situation with him, the naysayers usually tell us to definetly go back again.

Funny that I saw this thread this morning...that idea just crossed my mind yesterday.

We just booked another WDW trip in November, even though we just went in January and are cruising next summer. Honestly, yes, we probably shoudn't be spending the money. But we figured we enjoy and love WDW so much and by the time we would be ready for another trip (2013), DS will be 12 and probably not so much into the magic anymore. The time that they are innocent and only care about fun is so short. We want to enjoy it while we can.

My DH only told one person so far, his mother, because he was so excited about booking, and her response was "really, again?". She was always the one who was glad for us to go and never said anything negative. Oh well.

Now I have the daunting task of telling my mother. She will be 76 next week and has serious mobility problems, but is in major denial about them. She was pushing to go with us in January, but broke her hand right before the trip. She knows in her heart that WDW is really too hard for her anymore, and telling her about the trip will just make her realize that again. Then she gets depressed and upset. Ugh. Little off topic but sorry, I had to vent.

DH and I have decided not to tell anyone that we think may have the remotest chance of raining on our parade.

On the upside, I did have to tell someone so I told one of my closest friends, and she said that her family may come along with us!

Good luck to all. Those outsiders just don't understand us Disney obsessed Disers.

I think people jsut don't understand how different each and every trip is to Disney World. Theoretically you coudl go to DW and never step foot in one of the parks and have a marvelous vacation. There is so much to see and do you could never do it in one trip. We took the kids a couple of years ago and I sould like to take them a couple more times before they turn 18. (It may only be 1 more trip for them). I've already started begging my husband to take me back just the two of us for our 20th anniversary. (That's in 5 years) He's trying to hold out for the 25th anniversary.

This thread makes me laugh, but because it's so true!!! People DO tend to have a problem with multiple trips to Disney and I for the life of me cannot figure this out. DH and I both went a couple times as kids, but then started going again in college (for Spring Break, while others went to Cancun, Aruba, etc...we went to DISNEY). We LOVE it - we had our honeymoon there and could not wait until we had children of our own to bring there! That being said, my mom gets angry b/c we go to Disney more than we go visit her in MD. However, she does come up to visit the girls so it's not like she doesn't see them. I almost feel obligated sometimes to get plane tickets to see her just to not feel guilty about our next Disney trip. That being said, we were just there in Feb. and have our 2012 trip booked...we were supposed to go in Feb 2012 but had to move it to July 2012 b/c of DH work, so as we had already purchased airfare that needed to be used, we exchanged the tickets for a trip to MD over Thanksgiving to see my mom!!! (We'll have to buy new airfare for our July trip ) -- My mom was so excited we had bought tickets...until she realized that the tickets were actually purchased for Disney and since we HAD to use them we decided to come visit her...guess I could have left that part out.

This week, we've been telling various family members and friends about our recent WDW trip. Somewhere in the course of the conversation we will casually add, "We're going back next year." We're usually met with stunned silence and then the old "You're going back to Disney again? Why? You've already been."

The first few times, it was easy to explain: "Well, all of us love it there (DD and DS, too), we only really get one vacation a year and this is where we want to go ..." After the fourth or fifth time of explaining, I was starting to get irritated.

My biggest irritation is that the majority of the people who were giving us the third degree about going to Disney yet again, are the same people who choose to vacation in the same spot every year: Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, the Jersey Shore, etc. A family member pushed me to the brink this morning and I finally asked, "Well, why do you go back to such and such every year?" She explained that such and such is beautiful, she's the happiest when she's there, she's relaxed ... Well, that's EXACTLY how my family feels about Disney! After that, the family member changed the subject. Well, if that's what it took ...

How do you handle the "You're going to Disney again?" people? DH thinks we should just stop telling people that we're going.

UPDATE: Since I made this post, we have booked a late November/early December trip! We haven't told a soul ... yet.
This is so funny to me! We have really good friends who literally would go to Disney 4 - 5 times a year. And sorry to say we WERE the "you are going to Disney AGAIN" people.

They basically told us we can't say anything until we go. So we did, and of course fell in love! We are going again in about a month.

There is no way we could go more than once a year. But I get why people love it. It truly is a magical feeling. When I told my neighbor we were going she said she was going to cry she was so excited. Disney has that effect on people.

So um are you really going to Disney AGAIN!?!? LOL

We go every year. We don't always stay on property. We sometimes only go for a long weekend. So we tend to squeeze it in where it will fit money wise. It seems every 2 to 3 years we do the 7 day full on all out Disney trip The times we are not planning trips I am on the DIS board or making frequent stops to the local Disney Store...just for a fix We have our group of friends that are the same as us and we have the family group who thinks we are crazy. The bottom line is we dont really care. We have 4 kiddos from 17 down to 5 and they all love it. Planning 19yr anniversary trip now for Dec. and hubby has a business trip in March

I get this all the time. And I have stopped telling a lot of people when we are going on vacation. It annoys me, so I would rather not tell them. For the people that we have to tell, we just kind of laugh and give a lame excuse. I'm not sure why I have to do that!

The worst part is that I feel bad about going. We are kind of granola-ey people. Drive a Prius, cloth diaper, big into buying anything organic, recycled, "green, used, etc. And I feel bad about flying, going to Disney (probably one of the least "green" vacays you can go on), etc. I'm pretty sure people probably think it's hypocritical. (Kind of like my McDonald's Coke addiction that comes in a plastic cup.) But what can I say? I love it.

Before you know it, I will be sneaking away in the dead of night and only telling the hubby and the kids on the way out of town so they don't tell people. And the dis, of course.

Oh don't I understand this topic!!!! Only I get the looks like ARE YOU CRAZY????? Then come the sly "I wish I could afford to do disney once" comments. When the not so close family members found out I was planning a surprise Halloween trip for DD (DH and my third trip this year, DD's 2nd) and the sly comments came I shut them up with the following: I teach, DH works his rear-end off as a technician, and during my free time I save every cake dime- (I bake)- I can do WHATEVER I want with my money- I don't live off anyone else- well 'nuff said- They didn't want to go there.
On the other hand my BFF gave me a mickey picture for my birthday because she gets me What I have figured out is- If they truely know us- they get us, then ask when we're going back

I have found that If they truely know us- they ask "when can we go with you?"
Answer: When will you have the money saved.
We set them down at the PC and show them how to use the Website and their eyes BUG OUT when they can't believe how cheap it really can be. Then we show them the deals with the FREE Dining. WOW!!!

DH used to be one of those people. His first real trip (we were both there briefly for a day at Epcot in '00) wasn't until '06 with our 7 month old and some other family. He started to get it. And our whirlwind '09 trip sealed it for him. Since then, his job and finances have just not been there, but HE was the one to bring it up back in May about taking a trip before we move from FL!! He has totally bought into the Disney magic...maybe not the kind that would have him wearing Mickey ears or matching shirts, but he gets it.

At the same time, we aren't the family that likes to go to the same place every year, especially since we don't know that we'll get a family vacation every year (he's in the that he's going to be deploying again, I'm sure he'll work harder to make vacay time happen, though!) So I don't see us going back for at least 2-3 years. And while we'd love to go back next year, we're okay with waiting to go exactly when we want to go (i.e. this month's August trip was not idea timing, imo!) and we can save up and do a big trip. It also allows us to experience things at different ages with the kids.....our younger son was the same age this year that his brother was on our '09 trip, so it was fun to compare and think about those different, yet similar experiences. Though I suppose you still see that if you go every year! LOL

Yeah, I'd really just like to go every year....

I really don't get it. Dh and I love to go to DW and we do go other places. He just spent a week hiking in Shenadoah. We haven't been in 2 years and we almost went this summer but we are saving our money for a trip next summer when ds2 graduates from college. Both our sons love it there and can't wait to go again.

But I am tired of people asking me "WHy are you going there again" when so many people here in my area will spend every single summer sitting on the beach or up in the mountains sitting at a lake.

To each his own.
