Need advice on park tickets

What type of tickets do you buy? The last few times we went we only purchased regular tickets for MK,AK,DHS,and Epcot. We didn't go to either waterpark or have the hopper. My two oldest kids want to go to a water park this time on top of doing all four parks. We will be there for 6 days...I plan on being busy everyday but would also like some down time at the resort,DTD..I looked on Disney website and saw I can add the Hoppers and waterpark options. Is it worth it? I would probably do DHS and Epcot in one day but we also have character meals(most likely one but no more then two),and we plan on eating at Rainforest Cafe and the Trex restaurant while we are there. I just don't know if this will all be to much. Is a waterpark an all day event or could we do a half day there? My plan was to go to MK twice,AK in day,Epcot and DHS in one day. We are staying at one of three resorts(we are exchanging through RCI)BLT,AKV,or BC...if we get in to BC do you think having Stormalong Bay is good enough that I won't need to do a waterpark? My other three kids will not do much at the waterparks that's why I wasn't planning on going to one..

The WPF&M option only makes financial sense if you are going to visit a waterpark and/or Disney Quest more than once. For one visit to a waterpark, it's less expensive (by just a few dollars) to purchase a separate waterpark ticket. If you plan on doing a waterpark plus DQ or going to a waterpark two or more times, the WPF&M option is the better option.

You can always wait until you are at WDW to make the decision about purchasing the WPF&M option. If you stay at BC, your kids may not even want to go to a waterpark. Or since only 2 of your 5 kids want to do a waterpark, is there a way you could split up and only some of you do the waterpark?

Everyone is different, but DD and I found that about 4 -5 hours at a waterpark was enough for one day. For our May trip, we are planning two partial days at the waterparks and a partial day at DQ. So for us, the WPF&M option is a good deal, but we are skipping the park hopping option in favor of the WPF&M.

Smile Hopper for sure

We have never done the water parks on our tickets (kids still not ready for that) but we would not go with out the park hopper. We love to visit one park in the morning and another in the evening. Plus it really opens up your nightly dining options

A park hopper is a must have for us. It makes it so much easier to fit in all the things we want to do. It also makes it much easier to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. If you spend the morning at one park, you can take an afternoon break back at your resort pool, and then head to the EEMHs park to finish our your day.

We have never done the water parks, since we have small children who are either not tall enough, or too timid to ride the water slides. Maybe when they get bigger this will be an option for us.

On a 6 day trip though, you're going to have enough trouble fitting in what you want to do, never mind adding in a water park day!

Have a great trip!

I would say get the hopper for sure, especially if you're staying at BLT or BC... that way you can quickly hop into MK or Epcot, respectively to see the fireworks/grab a snack in France/an ice cream on Main street/whatever.
Stormalong bay isn't a waterpark, but it is awesome! I would wait and try to get away without WP&M - you can always add it if you end up deciding to try the water parks.
Have fun!
PS - I'm sure you've realized this, but even if you're only planning on going to parks for 4 days, it's just a few extra bucks to add the 5th day, so it may be worth it - definitely cheaper than WP&M!

The park hopper option works well for our family, especially if our trip is short. We have our favorite things in each park we definitely need to see.

We have gone to the water parks a couple of times. For us, it wasn't an all day event. I believe we stayed from 10 am to 3pm.

You can wait until you get to the second park on a given day before adding the hopping feature.

Last time I went I did add more days here and there during my stay but did not add hopping or water park fun.
Last Disney trip: December 2010.
Forget super sized fries. The Washington Redskins can promote healthy eating with First Lady Obama by adopting the (red skinned) turnip as their mascot.
