WDW televised Christmas parade question

Does anyone know if this was a separate ticket event? I mean the guests watching the parades in the parks who they show on TV?

I know it was filmed a few weeks ago, just wondering how they determine who gets to be in the crowd.

Thanks!

You go, early, and you wait. No separate ticket. But you have to stay in one place for the whole multi-hour taping.

Ugh, no thanks! I wonder, do they choose who stands where? I noticed almost all of the people in the very front were all glitzed out in WDW related clothing & hats.

We were there the year they had Miley Cyrus on (pre-stank) . Everyone was decked out in all Disney/christmas attire - as were we (we didn't know they were filming that day, but we were celebrating xmas early so we wore our stuff)..we didn't want to waste the day standing in one place so we just hurried down main street stopping every once in awhile to watch. Once they started filming the Mary Poppins segment CM's shooed people away. We hit the rides and went to have lunch at the plaza, at that point we heard Miley, my dd asked to be excused and went to see her and ended up right next to the stage and on TV! I wiggled up the crowds to find her - it took forever! We ended up seeing Miley and then Billy Ray film their songs. It was fun, but I could not do it for a whole day!

Interesting and cool for your dd!

We were also wondering if you needed tickets when we were watching this morning OP.

When you used to need to sign up to be part of the crowd for the parade you were told to wear Christmas clothing, Disney items if you wanted to be seen.

I heard the past couple years they gave the front row tickets to cast members and their families. They start before the park opens.

The year we saw it we didn't need tickets..just regular admission into the park...whomever showed up early got a spot up front - that's if they wanted to stay for hours on end while they filmed over and over again. Like I said, we didn't even know they were going to be filming that day. The day before we were at another park and found out that David Cook was at the MK..turns out they were filming that day as well.

I think that is really nice. So many of them spend every day giving pixie dust to guests, it's nice for them to receive a little of their own

Never been to DW, but in DL people line up for the parades, and Fantasmic hours in advance, and that's without it being videotaped for TV.
