The other thing we found that worked well last year from pop was using DHS as a trasnfer stop. if we wanted to go to a resort we just got on the bus for DHS which is right around the corner from pop and then transferred to the right bus.

We found that this saved bit of time b/c a) monorail is far from the bus stop at MK and 2) poly is the 3rd monorail stop.

Since time is important in the am my suggestion would be to go to the pop bus stop and take which ever bus comes first either MK and do mono rail or DHS and then hop on the poly bus.

We were going to take the bus to MK and the monorail it, but the bus driver took us there directly after dropping the rest off at Epcot! Something was up with the monorails, so I thought this was extremely nice of him!!

We have also found that when going from resort to resort on a tight time frame, sometimes the best thing to do is get a cab. The only timethis wont' work well is if you have multiple small kids that need car seats. Many cabs will provide one car seat. you can even call the front desk of Pop in the morning and they will make sure a cab is there with a car seat for you. All cabs muct be met near the front lobby. This is true at all Disney resorts.

How much would a cab ride be to the Polynesian and how long would it take if we took either the bus transfer at DHS or the monorail from MK?

Figure that it will take 35-45 minutes to take the MK Bus-to-Monorail route.
(That's after the bus loads and departs Pop.)

Figure that it might take 65 minutes to take the DHS Bus-to-Poly Bus.
(The buses going -TO resorts FROM theme parks- can be far-between in the early AM.)

Figure that a single cab ride (4-5 guests) would cost approx. $15-$30, plus tip.

NOTE: It will be quite possible that the MK bus from the Pop will take you DIRECTLY to the Poly,
if you tell the driver that you are going to the Kona for breakfast.

The "breakfast buses" can be very accommodating in the early mornings.
But, after about 9AM, the MK buses may not be able to make the direct "resort breakfast stops." Be sure to ask the driver, first-thing.

Quickest way would probably be taking the bus to MK, then hop on the monorail to the Poly. Like mentioned before the monorail drops you off right in front of Kona at the Poly. Walk in the sliding doors and Kona is directly to your immediate left. If the lines are long to get on the MK bus, you could always take the bus to Epcot, then the monorail to the TTC, then the monorail to the Poly. Hope this info. helps.

Yes, it does help - thank you!! I'm assuming we'll have to be taking the MK bus at about 7:30, so hopefully the line won't be too long.

Thanks Robo and everyone!

The lines for busses in the morning can get very long. To be safe you should line up at least an hour and a half before your reservation time if you want to take the bus/bus or bus/monorail route. I personally would take a cab one way. We did this in August and the price was about $20, with tip.

I agree with taking the bus to the Magic Kingdom, then the Resort Monorail to the Polynesian. However I also think a taxi is another great option if you don't mind paying for it, because it will be a lot faster then any form of WDW transportation.

Gee, there's good advice, spend $150 to make your breakfast reservation.

I would recommend a cab for Resort hopping like that if your party is small - it would run you about $20-25. Elsewise, I would probably go to MK and take the Monorail. Using DHS as a hopping point is iffy, as busses that stop going back to the resorts are somewhat sparse in the early AM. At least with the monorail, you know you only have to wait about 5 minutes to catch it. I would say allowing 1 hour would be an appropriate amount of time.
