Which ship and which cabin number are you looking at booking?

Since the ship doesn't sail until next year it's hard to give you an answer if you picked a good stateroom category. But being it's a verandah stateroom and it should have the plexi walls you should be good.
You will just need to pick your cabin when you go to book your cruise.

The 6B's on the Dream are the rear veranda staterooms, behind the oceanview rooms with the large portholes. They start right behind the oceanviews and then wrap around to the stern (back) of the ship. Depending on the one you have, you could be looking straight off the side of the ship, or looking straight back. They also appear to have a solid veranda wall (based on the Dream renderings I've seen), as opposed to the glass veranda walls on the rooms in front of the oceanviews. If you like to sit on your veranda, they may obscure your view a little; if you like to stand, they'll be fine.

My wife and I debated about these very rooms this past weekend when making our reservation on the Dream. I would have loved to have one of the rooms facing aft, or even better yet, one of the handicap assessable rooms that have huge verandas. She likes to sit and look through out and down at the ocean through the glass, so we decided that these won't work well for her.

Others may disagree, but I don't think there's any such thing as a bad room on a DCL ship. I take the view that being in ANY cabin on a DCL ship is better than being at home/work/school!

Yes, you have a veranda. Like a little open porch outside your room. The veranda has a wall to keep you from falling off the side of the ship and into the sea. The majority of these walls are glass/plexiglass (not sure which). The ones one the stern of the Magic and Wonder are white painted steel and are curved to match the lines of ship. Thy come up to about your waist.

All of the images of the Dream that I have seen show that the cabin class that you indicated, 6B, will have solid metal waist-high wall versus clear glass/plexi.

You can go to the Dreams Unlimited site at the top of this forum and look for Dream deck plans; they are better than the ones that DCL has on their site IMHO. Once you locate your room, you can then look at the computer renderings of the Dream on the DCL site to try and determine what type of veranda wall you have.

Keep in mind that the ship isn't actually built yet, so only the shipyard and those involved in the design and construction know for sure. But in keeping with the theme and lines of the existing ships, I'd wager to say that these rooms have the metal wall.

I also remember seeing a 360 degree virtual tour of the ship that allowed you to float around all sides of the ship. That may be useful in seeing what those cabins look like in concept.

I don't think you will have as much of a view while seated. You can still sit on your verandah and enjoy the fresh air -- but to fully enjoy your view you may need to stand so that you can see over the wall. We have never sailed with the solid wall verandah, so perhaps someone else can tell you more specfically about the view while seated.

Thanks for the find, Fab5Family! I've been all over the DCL website and for some reason never saw these until today

Also I am not sure you can really enjoy dinner on your veranda. They are not that big. They are comfortable enough to sit an enjoy, but the table is maybe 12 to 15 inches in diameter. It will hold one plate but no drink cups. So you will be eating off your laps. If you want to have dinner and watch the ocean, I would recommend ordering room service and then going up to a higher deck. We have done this at Topsiders on our cruise, hardly anyone is around during dinner times as they are at thier dinner or at a show.

We booked one of these. I really did not have much to go with other than it being some different and I thought it would be neat to see of the back of the ship. My DH is thrilled!!

On the Magic & Wonder, you can eat outside of Topsiders on the deck on the nights they offer dinner up there so you could skip the room service ordering. I assume the Dream will have something similiar if you are just looking to eat dinner outside.
