Does WDW ever have refurbs in late September?

Does WDW ever have refurbs in late September? I was just wondering because that's when we are planning on going. If they do, what kinds of things do they do refurbs on at that time of the year?

Yes, they sometimes do. It depends on the length of the refurb more than anything else.

I believe (but could be wrong) Space Mountain was in refurb, as an example, this last September.

You can count on something being down. One year it was Rock n Roller. On good years its little things, but it will most likely be something - often more than one. We try to focus on what is open.

This past September Space Mountain was in refurb. The TTA was in refurb at the start and re-opened during our trip. Donald's Boat and the Riverboat both closed for refurb towards the end of our trip.

Everything needs refurbishment occasionally, and they try to keep things open during the busiest time of year--Christmas and the height of summer. So any other time you're likely to see refurbs being done.

I believe this year Toontown is projected to close entirely, and since no date has been announced yet (so it probably won't be early in the year), if I had to guess, I'd expect it to close sometime in September or October.

Space Mountain was down, but then again it was down from Jan-Nov. - not typical "annual maintenance" type stuff.

I know Toontown has to close sometime, but I'm just wondering what they're going to do with all the charaater meet n greets until the new Fantasyland is up and running in about 2-3 years. Anybody know?

We've gone the past 3 Septembers...there is usually 1 major/e-ticke ride down and a few other smaller ones..

last year, Space Mountain was down during our trip, TTA had just opened before we were there, and Living with the Land closed for an 'emergency refurb' around that time as well because the boats were getting stuck.

Rock N Roller coaster was down one year...and I think BTMRR was down for a few days another...and Pirates was down one year too...

in 2010, I'm expecting that Star Wars will be down...cant remember when Muppets is going down??...and maybe some toon town stuff will start to move/close...

All that being said - the crowds are still really pretty low so you can ride the rides that are open more times, even on the busier days, and Mickeys Halloween Party is fantastic - so, dont get too hung up about ride closures and just enjoy all of the fun things that will be at your disposal!!

Late Semptember is a wonderful time to go, however there is a highly likelyhood of rides being down during the slow times of the year. I wouldn't go during a busier time to avoid this though. You never know what's going to be down and I'd rather have smaller crowds and nicer weather

Bear in mind also that most rides go down for months, so it's not like moviing your trip a month forward or backward will always help. I say pick the time that you want to go and GO!

There will be one or two around there always is even in the peak times,

It will most likley be a not very popular ride or a major attraction which is only closed for a couple days where you can just change your plans slightly.

I wouldnt worry to much.

They were redoing rooms as well as the main pool at ASsports in Sept of 2007 when we were there. The pool actually reopened they day we were leaving I think around the 29th. ASMu rooms were being redone as well in 2008 when we visited. Most times of the year there are rides closing except for the main summer/christmas/easter time. Actually we were at WDW the week after Thanksgiving in 2000 and the main pool at the Poly was being redone. Sept starts slower times generally, so a refurb can be scheduled then on most any ride/attraction.

Thanks for all the help! One more question...When does Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party usually start?

They will move them to other locations. Disney has a lot of real estate -- plenty of room for characters!

Thanks for all the help. I am hoping to attend a MNSSHP. I also hope I get to meet just as many characters even though Toontown will probably be closed.
