Question dimensions for fish extender???

I'm sorry, but I can't seem to find the size of the FE. I know I saw it recently, but I haven't found it in my searches this evening. Would appreciate some help as my mother in law is trying to make ours tonight.

Our is 8-1/4 inches across, 27 inches long. It has 3 pockets that are 6 inches. Here is a picture.

there is a fair amount of fudge factor in the FE construction. They can be up to 4 foot tall (huge i know) but the width max (and I stress max) is 11 inches. To be safe I would recommend 9 and 1/2 inches to allow for the wooden dowel.

My dowel with the end caps was about 9 1/2 inches. It was almost too big but just made it. My FE was about 8 1/2 inches and everything fit in.

so if my mother in law has already done the FE and it is 9 and half inches wide---will it not work once on the dowel? Do we (royal we, I don't sew)need to alter it so it is 8 and a quarter inches?

It will be fine. Just don't make the dowel extend real far out from the fabric. Where it sits on the cruise is at an angle so one side sticks out into the hall and the other is toward your room door. The wider FE's go at an angle toward the door, so they still fit. They just don't go flat against the FE wall. One person on our cruise had a booxy shoe hanger on their FE and it worked too.
