I start week 5 tonight!
I did 4 days of W4 because the first time I did day 3 was an epic failure! I re-did it 2 nights ago and mostly succeeded. So I am moving on. Week 5 is actually less running time but longer spurts. I'm crossing my fingers for a success (and no numbing feet)! |

I finished week 5 tonight! It was great! Week 1 was the hardest for me. Around week 2 or 3 my knees started to hurt when I ran (not when I walked, only while running). I got running shoes and have not had the problem since. If anyone else is having that problem, try running shoes and it goes away quickly. I am really enjoying the program. I am not very fast, but I am getting better each day!
I miss the program on my days off. Has anyone tried doing it every night? I am not sore from the running and I wondered if anyone has tried this. |

Just stopping in for a hello to old friends that have graduated, and give some inspiration and
to those working. Keep it up guys. I started in February, and finished a little under a month ago, I guess. I've been running the 5K distance 3 times a week, averaging 33 minutes. I had some oral surgery, so I had to take a week and a half off. Yesterday was my first day back running, it was EARLY and cool, so I pulled a Forrest Gump and just RAN. After I did the 5K, I thought, add 4 minutes, get to 40 minutes of running, then at 40, I thought, I've got 5 more minutes, when I finished that lap, some people I know showed up, and I decided to push a bit more. Ran 8.5 K, and ran for 60 minutes and 3 seconds. Actually kept my average speed to around 11.5 minute miles. I CANNOT BELIEVE I did this! I am pretty sore, but I struggled 3 months ago to run 60 seconds! You can do this! HANG IN THERE!!!!

Can't Believe it!
Tonight I did the W5D3!!! You all know the one...big 2-0! And I actually made it!
![]() I was really good for the first 13 minutes or so, then I started getting tired, not so much winded, but tired legs. I wanted to stop so bad - at least stop and stretch - but I didn't. I slowed down a bit, I felt like I was going SO slow, but kept going. Got back into a groove until about minute 17 - then I had to go up a slight hill, its just a gradual incline but it felt like a mountain! Again I really wanted to stop but I didn't! When I finally got to 20 min. it felt great - I couldn't believe I made it, I've never run 20 minutes in my entire life! I'm definitely feeling it in my legs and back, hopefully I won't be too sore tomorrow. I mapped out my route on google earth (hope that it's fairly accurate?) and it showed me going 1.80 miles in the 20 min. stretch - so I guess that is about an 11-11:30 minute mile? I guess that is not bad for a first time? I do love this program! |

I planned on starting C25K but got sidetracked. When I finally listened to the podcast there was no music. So, I downloaded an app and just finished adding my music.
I hope to start either while we are in DC or after I get back.

You all are doing so good! I am still out. I am having knee problems. Debating on if I need to see the doc or not. It actually started about 1.5 weeks after I stopped running so I don't think it is from that.
I am doing well on weight watchers so at least when I can start again I will have less to haul.

I missed about 5 days in my training early on (between week 1 and 2) due to a trip and I just picked up where I left off when I got back. Some people will redo the day that they left off on, but I was feeling pretty good about where I was at so I just moved onto the next. My C25K Update: I did W8D1 yesterday and it was my worst run thus far. I was so disappointed, I know everyone has bad runs and this was just the first one for me. It was the first day I've really run in heat and it was sunny, and I didn't drink hardly anything all day. I also had done a Jillian Michaels DVD the day before and my legs were just wrecked before I even went out. As soon as I started jogging I could tell my legs were fatigued and that it was going to be a tough run. I somehow made it through the 28 minutes but I was completely drained, usually I have tons of energy after I get done running. Took today completely off from exercising to rest the legs and hoping for a great run tomorrow! |

I started the C25K (Actually a few of us from my pre trip report have all started! - hi Jill!!!) I want to run the 5K next october (wine and dine race) and my hubby is training for the 1/2 marathon! I am on week 2 and already struggling with the running.... do you think I should keep repeating week 2 until it becomes easy or do I move on to week 3?

I'm on W8D3 and it's amazing! I NEVER thought I'd make it this far. Each week I've just had to push though - the runs never get easy but they do get managable...and even enjoyable! Good Luck!!! |

Hey guys... I have been scanning some pages and really exited about this program
My walking friend and I have started the C25K. W1D1 was yesterday.... and we are both SOOOOOO sore in the tops of our thighs. We have been walking together for years but needed an improvement to our "workout" so we know that we are not sore from first time excercise. But i guess it is from working out other muscles Anyone else experience that?

You all have inspired me :)
I started the C25K a couple of years ago, and never finished. I restarted 3-4 weeks ago, and found this thread last week. This morning I did W3D1. My last 3 minutes was mostly uphill. But I got through it because I remembered all the comments you guys made about being able to carry on! So Thank you. Cannot wait to join the group of graduates. And for you W1 and W2 people - keep on keepin on

I started the C25K a couple of weeks ago (starting W3D1 today or tomorrow and TERRIFIED). Just an observation, but it is sooooo much easier to run on a treadmill than to run outside! I struggled through my first 2 workouts on week 2 (like REALLY struggled) and my 3rd one I did on my parents' treadmill and I breezed through it. I wish I had room for a treadmill!
But on the other hand, I love running along the Ottawa river and to the beach and the marina. I don't think I would keep up my running if I didn't live right next to such a scenic area. I lurk on this thread reading others' success stories and just wanted to post. I admire all of you who have finished the program and hope that one day I can be a C25K graduate too!
