AWwww, Crissy, I"m so sorry your foot is still bothering you!! It stinks that you want to be out there training, but can't. Rats!

I'm glad you came up with a touring/eating groove that works for you! That's half the battle of feeling well at the parks, and that you're saving money is always a huge bonus!

Waiting on park hours stinks! I remember last month waiting, and waiting, and waiting; wanting to put my schedule and ADRs together, but not being able to. Erghhhh!

That sounds like a good plan! On my 2009 trip we had a number of early dinners and really liked that, it gives you time afterwards to return to a park and have some more fun.

I am sorry that your foot hasn't improved yet!

When I was down a few weeks ago with my parents we ended up with alot of early dinners/late lunches. At first I wasn't happy with it, but once I was there I found it really worked well for me. I'd have a light breakfast. If I got hungry before meal time, I'd munch on a 100 cal snack pack that I carried with me. I'd have the late/early meal and be fine for the rest of the day. Usually we'd wrap up our day back at the resort with a small snack. I didn't feel like I was eating constantly, and it saved a lot of money. I'm thinking of trying the same plan for this trip as well.

My other focus right now should be on training, but sadly that's come to a screetching halt. My food is still bothering me, and I can barely walk on it let alone run. I've been trying to keep off of it as much as possible. I've skipped my Zumba classes all week, but unfortunately working in NYC avoiding walking altogether isn't really a possibility. I've been limping all over the place. I'm giving myself to the end of the week before I take the time off to go to the doctor. It will feel better for awhile, and then I tweak it again. Ugh! I'm sick of having painful swollen feet.
I hear you about park hours- I am getting impatient waiting for them to come out.
I don't know what it is, but I end up eating a huge breakfast, then a huge dinner while in Disney. I eat more food there than anywhere/anytime!
There must be something weird going on- my foot was killing me all weekend & is just starting to feel better. I haven't been able to walk OR run. What is "Zumba"?

It came up so suddenly too. My first few days at my grandmothers I was dying to go for a run, but I hadn't brought my running shoes. The weather was perfect, and all those really flat roads were so inviting! Here in New England, I'm used to having to run up and down hills.

Usually when my food acts up, it only lasts a day or two. The fact that it's been nearly 2 weeks now has me a bit more worried.

Eating in the middle of the day was really a stretch for me. I'm use to having my dinner be my biggest meal, and I usually don't eat that until 7pm. Eating in the afternoon just worked so much easier. It kept my energy up, and I had more of a chance to pick at little things if I wanted.

Luckily I have a basic plan in mind. For the most part it should be fine. I've been using touringplans.com's proposed days for MNSSHP. They are usually pretty accurate for the following year. It's really just the Fantasmic show that will mess up my plans. We missed the show last year, and since it's a favorite of both of us I don't want to miss it again. I hate that it shows so seldomly. Makes it so hard to plan!

I was surprised how much I liked eating earlier. With the parks closing fairly early this trip it was almost a necessity, but it worked wonderfully.

I'm just about ready to call the doctor. I'm taking another weekend off from my aerobic classes and if it's still swollen and painful on Monday I'm calling. I feel like an old lady limping all over the place. I'm going to get run over at the train station one of these mornings if I can't speed up soon.

That's usually what happens to me. Normally I have breakfast, than lunch and than a huge dinner (and the first two meals weren't small either!). I do want to have a few bigger breakfasts this trip. I want to go back to Kona, and I'd love to try Cape May this trip, especially as I'll be staying right there.

I think the key for me is keeping it to 2 meals a day. If I can eliminate a larger lunch I'll be doing much better.

What part of your foot? Mine is pretty much in the toes and the top of my arch. I'm just so sick of it being painful and swollen. None of my shoes are really fitting.

Zumba is my aerobics class. It's a latin dance based class. I'm completely addicted to it, and missing my classes is just killing me. It's the first exercise I've ever done that I really love doing. At my gym the classes are so popular that you have to sign up for them the morning before your class to reserve a spot. 5 am on the dot you have to be online to reserve your class and they pretty much are filed by about 5:03.

Thanks. It's been feeling a little bit better. It hurts, but at least I'm not really limping anymore. I'm hoping to get out for a run maybe this weekend. The beautiful weather is calling out to me! I hate not being able to even really go for a walk.

That sounds great, hope you have a good run (or at least walk) this weekend!

I love the late lunch / early dinner concept. Often times this can get you into restaurants that would otherwise be booked up as well.

Sorry about your foot, I hope it feels better soon!

The foot is feeling better, but I chose to take another few days off of it as it's still not quite 100%. At least I was able to get down the stairs at my place (I have a 2nd floor condo) without having to lean completely on the railing. I have yoga class tonight, so after that I'm going to see how it is. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to go out for a run when I get home.

It's wonderful to be able to walk again without limping. I still think I need to make a doctors appointment though.

I got my parents and I a Le Cellier ressie this way a few weeks ago. I actually preferred the lunch there. They had sandwiches on the menu which suited me more than just a big hunk of steak. I'd definitely do lunch there again over dinner.

Good news on the foot, but I agree that it still would be wise to see the doctor. You want to get it sorted out as soon as possible in order to start training again seriously!

I liked lunch at Le Cellier as well, I had the best burger ever there!!

Thanks. There is definitely something wrong with the foot. I really need to just face up to that and go to the doctor. I've had a crazy fear of the doctor since I was a little kid. No real reason why. I refuse to go unless I really can't take it anymore. Usually that means I can barely talk because my coughing is so bad, or because I pulled a muscle in my back and can barely climb out of bed. The foot has just about reached that point.

Preliminary Plans for Day 1

In my world of Disney planning there is some good news, and the news that doesn't seem to change.

Good news first. I spoke with my friend today, and gave her the run down of the basic itinerary I had planned so far, i.e. 10/1-10/9, 6 days Disney, 2 days Universal, and she seems to be good with the basic plan. She's excited about staying at the Beach Club. (I think our Boardwalk stay spoiled both of us a bit). So since she was good with everything I went ahead and booked my flights.

The booking of the flights was probably the simplest thing I've done for this trip so far. I've come to realize that I'm pretty much a Jet Blue girl at this point. I like flying out of White Plains. I like not having to add on fees for my first bag, and I like being able to chose my specific seat location. Plus I've been really impressed with how they do things. It didn't hurt that the flight was cheaper than it would have been to fly Air Tran where I would have had to have a connecting flight. I love those direct flights! Southwest's prices were similar (maybe slightly higher), but honestly the seating issue really turns me off. I know I’m flying alone, but I don't want to chance being stuck in a center seat.

So that was the good news. The plans got the okay from my friend, and I have a flight.

So onto the plans that don't change. I am having such a hard time coming up with a park plan for this trip. Disney could help and throw me a bone and release some park hours, but they don't seem to be in any rush to do that. Things just aren't fitting in the way I'd like. It doesn't help that this will be my first big race and I'm not 100% sure how much down time I'll need before or after.

I took a look at the calendar yesterday and realized that my 180 ADR date is going to hit on Easter Sunday. Right around the corner! Eek! I need to come up with at least a preliminary plan soon.

This is what I'm toying with as of right now for day 1:

Friday 10/1 - Flight arrives 9:30 am
Check in to resort
Head over to ESPN WW of Sports for packet pickup and expo

That's when I hit my first road block. My first choice would have been to head to the MK, but it should be a MNSSHP night if the dates stay the same as last year. My other options are:

A) to go to MGM if it's a Fantasmic night. Hit a few rides, have dinner, and see the show. I'm thinking of trying Sci Fi. It would be fun, and I've never tried it.

B) to go to Epcot. It's opening day of Food & Wine, so instead of making an ADR, just wander World Showcase trying new things, see Illuminations and head back to the resort. My problem with this plan is that Epcot may be kind of crazy for opening night of F&W. Another night for this might be better.

C) skip the parks altogether. After the expo head over to DD and do a bit of shopping. Head to one of the resorts for a good dinner, and just relax. This plan would keep my friend from having to buy one more ticket this trip (she has 4 days left from last year), but I'm not sure that I could go parkless on my first day at Disney.

Thoughts? Better ideas? How would you spend your first day at Disney?

The race is that following night, right? I think you should decide what to do on Saturday, the day of the race, and then that will determine what you do on Friday. I would lean towards hitting a park on Friday and then resting and taking it easy on Saturday before the race.

I want so badly to do this race, it is killing me! But, I don't think it's in the cards, first off, I don't know that I would be ready for anything but a 5K and secondly, we are leaving on Saturday the 2nd. I can't imagine touring all week and THEN doing a race!
