Disneyworld December 20 - 26, 2009 --- crowd pictures

We were at Disneyworld December 20 - 26, 2009 for Christmas week. I have a few crowd pictures that I'd like to share.

We went to MK on Monday, December 21 at park opening. -----

The next 2 pictures are when we got stuck on TTA around noon. The ride never did start back up. We were escorted to the Buzz Lightyear building where we had to go down steps to get back on the ground. Everyone was given a fastpass good for any MK fastpass attraction. ----

The following 2 pictures are when we went to Hollywood Studios on Tuesday, December 21 at park opening. We went straight to Toy Story Mania and got in the stand by line. The fastpass line extended to the Little Mermaid attraction! These pictures are when we were in the line. It took us 30 mintues to get on the ride.-------

These next pictures are of Christmas Day. The MK opened at 7am to resort guests and we had planned to be there at that time. But the rain delayed us from going that early and we finally arrived about 9am, 2 hours after it opened. These are pictures of walking into the park and going into Fantasyland. Fantasyland rides were all practically walkons, it was great! -----

These last 2 pictures are when we left MK around 2pm. The crowds were heavily coming into the park at that time. We later heard that MK closed the gates to incoming guests around 3pm. ----

We managed just fine all week by being at park opening, using fastpasses, eating early and/or off hours, and seeing the shows and less popular attractions when it was crowded. We had a great time!

Awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing. It was interesting seeing the obvious change in weather from your first set from MK to Christmas Day, just by seeing what people were wearing.

Thanks for the pics!! I always love crowd pics. The Christmas afternoon pics look like what I was expecting, I guess, but the morning surprised me. Looks like it was great, wonder if the rain helped keep the crowds out till later?

So glad you had a great time!

We left on the 19th...the crowds were super light the whole time we were there. Amazing how many people came in on the 20th!

The Christmas morning pictures are great--glad you got to get on what you wanted before the crowds showed up.

Wow great pictures!

It's amazing what staying on site can do sometimes! Seeing those pictures from Christmas morning and with the park pretty empty is fun!

My friends are there at the moment, so I'm hoping they've been able to do things they'd like too, but with those crowds I can't see it myself!

Cool! We're staying at POFQ too so I'll look for them. I'd like to take some home for souvineers even if it doesn't rain. None of us have ponchos or rain gear and it always rains in MN!

When it starts raining, the ponchos can be found ANYWHERE you see a cash register. lol Seriously, they do put the ponchos out usually near the register when it's raining, when it's not raining, just ask at any gift shop, they are sure to have some.

The weather on Monday and Tuesday was pretty chilly. Me and my daughter wore long johns, long sleeve shirt, jacket, gloves, wool headbands with our jacket hood on Monday night to go to Hollywood Studios for the Osbourne lights, it was cold for us, we're from the south. Each day got better, by Christmas day it was in the 70's during the day and felt nice and warm. A cold front passed through in the afternoon and was chilly again by Christmas night. Regardless of the temperature, we saw people swimming every day at our resort, brrrrrr.

Thanks for the nice replies!

We were there 12/17-12/21 (last park day was 12/20) and it was cold on 12/19 and 12/20 - particularly at night - and we are from the North. In the low 40's high 30's by park closing at 2:00 am on 12/21.
We were at WDW for Christmas day twice - in the 2004 and 2005 (I think). The first year it was raining and cold on Christmas day (like this year) and my DD who was working at HM called and told us to come on over - the MK was empty. Your pictures remind me of that morning. The next year we spent the day with family in Tampa and didn't attempt the parks until evening....when it wasn't bad. We heard however, that MK had closed for awhile during the day. I think the weather definitely plays a part, particularly with the locals who may decide not to go if the weather if poor. Still a great time to be at WDW, however.

Same here! I realize that my going during non peak times means the occasional attraction will be shut down for refurb or whatever, but it's a price I'm more than willing to pay to stay away from THAT! that is almost what it looked like the last time I went to MVMCP!!!! INSANITY!

Interesting that Space Mountain has those lines set up outside the main entrance now. On past trips I remember when the line just went out of the main entrance in a straight line all the way through Tomorrowland. Looks very crowded.
