I adore the posters at the Bug show. They are so cute!! FOTLK is also my favorite show. I didn't think my kiddos would enjoy it but they were just quite and captivated throughout the entire thing. Great update!

Hi Again!!

2 pix of the Safari. Yep, I think it's a record. That gave me a chuckle!! I would have had even less on the ONE ride I took. We saw exactly 2 animals total, and my camera probably would have done even worse than yours, bringing my total to ZERO.

Glad you guys agreed on the show; that could have turned ugly. Haven't seen FoLK yet, but sure am excited to.

Great update, Crissy!!

I know my nieces loved it last year. They ate more of my food, than whatever the kid's item was that my brother ordered for them. They are not shy about walking away with my food.

Every trip prior to this one I would try and end up with big blurrs. This year I just gave my BFF the seat on the end and just enjoyed watching the animals. I enjoyed the safari much more as a result.

My two nieces enjoyed it much more than I thought they would have, especially as the younger one is completely bug phobic. Ones up on the screen don't seem to bother her too much.

Skierpete pointed out there were a variety of character trees. I was a bit sad after that I missed them. I love that Nemo ornament right on the front of the tree and the starfish on the top.

Thanks! It's hard to believe that in a month I'll be down there again, when I just got back. I truly think more vacations is the key to life happiness. Work isn't phasing me at all now that I have a vacation booked.

Thanks. It was a fun trip. My BFF and I really embraced being big kids for the week.

Last year I was voted out with my family so I was really hopeful this trip that FoLK would win.

I did get an AP in December since I knew I'd be going back in October.
The Thunderbolt! Nope, that was a different coaster. It was another wooden coaster over behind the Rotor in the middle of the park. (The Rotor was that ride where you stand against the walls and it would spin and the floor would drop out...no more rides like that in today's suit-happy world.) I loved the Thunderbolt! I think the Loop Coaster was simply called the Loop Coaster.

Hey, thanks for the TR shout-out! You beat me at "Whose tree is this?" though. I am stumped! I see bears, snowflakes, sunflowers, and slices of apple, what looks to be oil laterns and some white circles - perhaps representing the moon. I have no clue at all what they have to do with eachother. Could it be something to do with "Brother Bear"? I have never seen that movie, but the symbolism here doesn't match. I just don't have a clue. I looked all over, and I had to give up.

I gave up taking pictures on the safari after years of getting relatively the same photos. I decided to just enjoy it.

I love the character trees, how much fun is that??

That's right. I use to love the Thunderbolt too. I remember they'd run 2 tracks, one of them backwards. I never did the rotor. I was convinced I'd be sick if I tried that. I had to look up the loop coaster - it was called the Black Widow. What surprised me when I looked it up was that Riverside use to have a monorail. I don't remember that at all.

It was much more enjoyable than trying to take bad photos.

Day 2 - A New Found Gorilla Fear

I am not an afternoon parade person. Sometimes I'll watch them if I happen to come across them, but I never make it a point to hang out and watch parades when I’m at Disney.

With one exception.

The afternoon parade at Animal Kingdom. I really love this parade. The music is catchy, the floats are amazing, and I always find the characters in it very interactive with the guests watching the parade. The Christmas, Jingle Jammin, version of the parade is no different - only to Christmas music. We didn't think we were going to be able to catch the parade because of the timing with our safari fastpasses. We lucked out though. The AK parade starts and finishes in the same spot to the left of the safari entrance. The parade was just heading out as we got in line for the safari. When we got off, the parade still hadn't made it back. We ran and ducked under the ropes and snagged a great spot right on the corner near where the parade finished. (Near the hairwrapping station, and the overflowing fountain). It ended up being a perfect spot. We had the whole area to ourselves, while the other side of the street was packed. The perfect place for snagging some pics - no heads in your way! I even managed to snag a hug from Baloo as he was walking by.

The Pangani trail was the last thing that we really wanted to see at AK. It was nice to take our time and walk through it leisurely, although I had a few issues with some of the other guests in the gorilla area. As you enter one part of the gorilla area there are signs all over the place asking you to please, for safety reasons, keep quiet. They even had a cast member there, repeating the same thing, hushing people. This didn't seem to stop this one group that was in the glass viewing area the same time we were. They were so loud, and didn't even bother to quiet down until this guy -

Suddenly came at the glass window. To say I jumped about 3 feet might be an understatement. The CM reassured us that it was fine, and that he was just showing off a bit. I wasn't feeling very secure. It did finally shut that group up (a little bit). I couldn't get out of the gorilla area fast enough.

I tried to get a few pics of the merkats, but they were patroling the landscape in front of them, so none of my shots ended up being better than this -

He didn't care that I wanted a shot of something other than his back.

At that point I didn't care much. My belly was begining to grumble. A yogurt parfait and a dish of fruit wasn't going to cut it much longer.

Your pictures really make me want to see the Animal Kingdom parade! Good job snagging a great spot to enjoy it from!

I would have high-tailed it out of the gorilla viewing room, too. I would have had scenes from Congo dancing through my head!

Looking forward to reading about your afternoon snack!
