Globespan gone bust ..... had booked flights with them for 2010

That will teach me to book early ... booked Globespan flight to return from Orlando after my cruise in September ... have now gone bust and basically I will have to reclaim cost from my credit card company. Unfortunately I had also booked flights from Edinburgh to Manchester and I will lose the money from that because the credit card won't cover it. Feeling really fed up and more than a little bit

this is the statement on the Globespan website re. flights:

"Any customers who have booked a flight through Globespan Airways Limited operating as Flyglobespan are unlikely to be covered by the ATOL scheme.

Customers who have paid by credit card or Visa debit card should contact their card issuer in the first instance to determine whether they can claim a refund under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and/or their insurance provider.

The Companies are unable to offer any refund to customers in respect of cancelled flights, holidays or accommodation."

That sucks, Sarah!!! Hope you get some joy from your credit card company..

It's hard to know what to do for the best with flights - buy early or wait. I'm always keen to get mine asap so if the price was right, FWIW I would've done the same thing...

We went through the same thing with Travel City Direct last year, but thankfully it only took a couple of months for the money to be recovered. I hope it gets sorted quickly for you

I would be sitting on the patio of the Fontana bar at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas watching the dancing fountains on a warm balmy night whilst sipping vintage Champagne

Hope you get your money back quickly and are able to re book. 2 years ago on Christmas day we found out the airline we had booked our summer flights with had gone bust. Obviously we couldn't do anything about it on Christmas day or Boxing day, but I phoned our credit card company up on the 27th and 4 days later we had all our money back.

Managed to book some more flights today for only £100 pp more than the Globespan ones were costing, with BMI. Unfortunately it involves 2 changes of aircraft but it would have cost me an extra £200 pp to fly direct with Virgin so what the heck. Still miffed that I lost the £100 for my cancelled connecting flight but at least I should get the Globespan money back.
