Fathers and teenaged daughters ...

... do they all yell at each other???

DH usually gets angry that DD isn't ready for school on time, this morning she was ready and he still found something to get angry about. It's like having an extra child.

Rant over.

I consider myself very lucky. Maddie went through her teenage years without any tantrums. She will occasionally vent her frustrations on me. She talks to me in a way she wouldn’t dream of speaking to anyone else (she never swears at me). I choose to see this as a backhanded compliment; she feels comfortable enough to show her feelings. I'm so proud of her and happy she’s home for Christmas.

I'm sending you a hug for that, Tony!!! Have a lovely Buckland Christmas... xxx

My DH and DD always got along without any tantrums - they are still very close (she's almost 27 now) and would have a go at her brother, boyfriend or me (in that order) rather than vent at her Dad...

my DH and DD's 'bicker' with each other and it annoys the hell out of me.
It is just like having 3 kids - and I tell him this ALL of the time

My DH bickers with the kids all the time i agree its like having three kids sometimes !! the worst thing is when he asks them to do something and they then ignore him...he never follows through and makes them do it and then wonders why they never listen to him

My dad has never shouted at me, he is so laid back. I would argue with him occasionally but he would never argue back. My mum on the other hand we would argue but now we get on way better

My 12 year old daughter talks to her father at times with a tone of voice that makes me cringe. One time she thought it was him behind the door and said something surly and border-line rude. Then she saw it was me and was horrified "Oh sorry, Mum - I didn't know it was you". Why would she think it was okay to speak to him like that but not me?
If you ask her, she says he is the strict one, yet she is much more polite to me.

It is such a puzzle because they both clearly love each other and have some great Dad'n'Daughter times doing things I don't enjoy, but they definitely spark more off each other.

He has even said things like "well she started it" to me!!!! Who is the adult here??? Why am I always referee?

AAAAARGH.

As I see it, it's not DD who has the tantrums!!

At other times they are real pals - I just got a bit fed up this morning.
