Disney's Hilton Head Resort

I looked and didn't see any seperate area for this resort so I'll ask here. Has anyone ever stayed here? I was just looking at the offers on the AP section of WDW site and saw that there are great discouts here in Feb. I know not a Feb type of place to visit but we will be driving and actually were going to stop near Savannah, GA and this appears closeby. Anyone ever do this? Thanks

I would post your question on the DIS DVC Boards -- you will get lots of responses there I think - people are frequently talking about HH and Vero Beach.

HH is good anytime of the year. Great island with lots of things to do. Savannah is a little more than an hour south. Charleston SC is also a great place to visit and is about 2 hours north of HH. Both very historic areas. Might be a little chilly in February but if the sun is out, all will be good. Rent bikes to explore the island as they have bike paths everywhere.

Enjoy your trip.

Thanks!! When I saw the offer, I had to check it out!! It seems like it's about 8-9 miles off 95! We have been to both Charleston and Savannah and they are beautiful!! On the way down we probably won't get there until late, but depending on the weather we will either stay at the resort to check it out or go into Savannah. On the way back we will do what ever we didn't do on the way to WDW!! Have you ever stayed at the resort?

If you're expecting Charleston or Savannah, Hilton Head will be a shock for you. It is not 200 year old houses, but planned communities with a lot of new development. Many of the houses are torn down after 20-25 years and a new one is constructed in its place.

But if you're looking for excellent dining, I think Hilton Head has as many options as anywhere you will ever find. I highly recommend The Studio: An Artistic Dining Experience if your budget can afford it.

No, we have never been there and really are just stopping on the way down to WDW for a week. I saw the great AP rate of 66/night and thought it might be nice for a change from the holiday inn type place that cost about that for a night in May. We will probably get there around 7 at night and just hang out around the resort and look around. On the way back we may also make the reservation and keep it if we really like the resort. Thanks.

Just be aware that Disney's HHI resort is two seperate facilities seperated by a highway. One side is directly on the beach; the other is on the intercoastal waterway. If I had to guess, the rooms on the beach side are probably more expensive. Unless you're using your DVC points, you can probably go much cheaper by renting a condo.

Our family has been to HHI several times in the last 5 years. The Diney complexes are nice, but as a PP stated, most of the development on HHI is fairly new. If you stay in Palmetto Dunes or Sea Pines, you'll be hard pressed to find something that isn't nice.

It's just a stopping point on the way down and I thought 66/night was not that much. I really don't care about which side of the resort it's Feb not the summer. Thanks.

We just got back from a pre-Thanksgiving stay at Disney's HHI. The 2 bedroom villa for a little over a hundred bucks deal Disney Visa was offering was too good to pass up! The resort is on the marsh and is truly lovely. All the CMs were so nice! My 3 year old loved all the activities for kids they offered and the campfire on selected nights. We also enjoyed the giant hot tub (the pool is heated to 85 degrees, but that's still too cold for this FL girl). The Savannah riverfront area took us about an hour to get to, door to door. It was a pleasant, easy drive. It was really a fun, relaxing trip.

THank you!! This is the kind of info we're looking for. About how far off 95 is the resort? According to the directions on the WDW site, about 8-9 miles. Is that about right? I know about the rate, I had no thoughts on staying here. I was just checking to see if the new AP code could be applied to our WL rooms in Feb and saw this offer to AP holders. 66/ night! For all 4 of us too, no extra adult charges. Can't beat that and it does look very nice in the pictures. We will be with a 1 1/2 yr. old as well.

THanks for all the replies. I did just make a reservation for on the way home for $73 including tax for the 4 of us adults and a baby. It's great with no extra adult charge and can't beat the price.

We love the Disney Hilton Head Resort. We have spent several Christmas holidays there and will be returning again this year. The 2 bedroom villas are great for our family. The pools are heated and there is a hot tub. There are organized "kids club" activities that my son loves. One night they have a huge bonfire and sing-along for the kids. The resort also has a dog named "Shadow". We love to take our bikes and ride to their beach resort. You can also rent bikes. The resort also offers excursions you can book. We have done the dolphin watch cruise and it was fun. There are no characters at the resort, but there is a touch of Disney.

First off you'll love it at Disneys Hilton Head Island Resort! We've stayed there in a 2 bedroom villa and it was really nice. We were there in Feb and it was close to 80 degrees at the time. About the travel distance from I 95 it seems like we clocked it at about either 16 or 18 miles. The real problem in getting into Hilton Head is at sometimes traffic can be pretty heavy going thru the town of Bluffton. Hope you have a good trip!!

Thanks. I'm surprised it was so warm. We'll be there during the first half of Feb. I'm just wishing for no snow/ice on our trip to WDW or back home to NJ!
