Thumbs down Guests using old design refill mugs???

My sister is at WDW now. She was telling me that many, many people are using the old design of the refill mugs at her resort - POR. I thought the mugs were only good for the visit in which you bought them? Why do they allow people to use them?

She even said she saw some people using the old Dixie Landings mugs??!!??

What gives???

Last time I stayed at All Stars Sports (April 2009) I saw many, many people using all kinds of mugs that obviously were not Disney refillable mugs.

If the Cast Members don't care to enforce the rules then it's something I wouldn't get worked up over.

Though many do it, I did see Cm's telling a guy at ASM that the station was for muggers only. It doesnt bother me much. I buy my mug..But when I am in the most magical place on earth, i have a lot of other things to think about.

Because apparently management has told the CMs that is not an issue with them. All the shows, attractions, restaurants, etc have operating guidelines and it is Disney's decision how to implement them.

All I can think of is "blah, blah, blah"!!! How many times has this been "reported" on here???? Like another poster said and I agree 100% - until a cast member personally asks me to stop, I will continue to bring and use mine as well.

I like to cup my hands under the spout and drink from them. No need to carry anything around.

When I bought mugs in '90's, the sales pitch was, they are good for a lifetime.
Maybe some of these are "lifetime" mugs.

The rule is you can only use the mug during the trip you bought it.

I'm sure your sister saw people cutting in lines, taking pictures when the CMs said not too. Just because people do it and don't get snagged does not make it right.

That's a great point because if they were then those guests were doing nothing wrong.

My DxL's mug is good forever. However, it is actually only good forever at POR. But, that is beside the point. Disney does NOT care who is using what mug at any resort. If they truly cared, they wouldn't have gone to one generic style of mug...same design for every mug sold.
They could stop this practice quite easily...they just choose not to.

Yes, there is signage both at the area where you buy the mug, as well as on the mug handle itself (at least there used to be, not sure about the newest ones) that states mug refills are good for the duration of the stay in which the mug was purchased. But, that pretty much just impacts some people..they see it and believe it. Others use any type of container they can get their hands on to refill.
I don't have a huge problem with those refilling WDW mugs, but I do have an issue with refilling mugs that weren't purchased from Disney....or any other type container.

It just isn't worth the aggravation to get all upset about it.
