Hope you all have a great day and for those who have posted that you're already expecting a full heaping of "family drama", try not to let it ruin your day!!

Happy Thanksgiving C.Ann. I am sure we can come here and vent to you if we have family drama!! Luckily I am going to DH's family for Thanksgiving .... I usually stay out of the drama. Of course my MIL will push my buttons but that's more my issue than anything else .... as long as she gives me sips out of her wine glass when DH isn't looking I can handle it! :-)

I'm sure there will be plenty of full reports here tonight - LOL.. However, if you can sneak away to a computer for a few minutes during the "drama", I'll be here off and on today and tonight..

Happy Thanksgiving C.Ann.

I happily avoided the family drama by not going to my Aunt's this year :

Our family drama already happened yesterday (my side of the family this time). It was a bit of a shock but DH and I are rolling with it: he's working, I'm going to see a movie and we both decided yesterday that we're going to start our own traditions beginning with Christmas this year and the hell with everyone else. We're tired of trying to make it work.

My sister used to say (about the person causing the drama this time), "You're going to be sorry after she's gone" and my remark to my DH later on when I told him about it was, "Not as sorry as I am that she's here". I think that was the final straw for him and he suggested that we now spend our holidays making them meaningful for ourselves and the hell with everyone else.

God bless that man.

I was reading another thread here earlier where someone said that their drama-queens aren't speaking to anyone anymore. I almost replied, "And isn't it nice when that happens? "

So now I AM replying that it's nice when the drama-queens are refusing to speak to those they're mad at. Everyone gets what they want.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

DD and I are heading to DTD soon. We'll be having dinner at Portobello and just soaking up the holiday atmosphere.

Cross your fingers that DD is in a cooperative mood. I want to have her picture taken with Santa at DTD. Of course, being 21, she won't want to do this. Maybe, because it is a holiday, she'll be extra nice to her mom and cooperate. After all, it's been years since she did this and my scrapbook still has empty pages! Lol!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!

The trainer at the gym this morning told the class a great trick. When she and her husband were first married they would tell her mother they were going to his mothers house and his mother they were going to her mothers house. Then they would go and enjoy a nice dinner out. For all of you with family drama, I thought this sounded like a wonderful way to enjoy the holiday.

Yes, and thanks. When the drama and selfish attitudes make me resent the holiday seasons (or any celebration now that I think about it), it's time to take action and change what I (and we) do to "celebrate" the holidays.

It'll be tough. It would help if DH wasn't working, but we can't change that. We'll have our Thanksgiving celebration later on tonight and spend this weekend with each other building our new traditions instead of with people who've spent the last two days being miserable and wanting to make everyone else around them just as miserable as they are.

The only thing I can change is myself and my actions. I can't change the person who created all the drama in the first place. Once I internalized that and stopped wasting emotion and thought on how angry I was at the person who caused all the drama, things got better.

Thanks for the hug, Belle. I'm going to splurge and see Disney's A Christmas Carol in 3-D on the IMAX screen and the hell with how much it costs! DH said the nicest thing before he left for work this morning:

I should work on my relationship with myself (because that's who I spend the most time with). I should give her comfort, tell her you love her, take her out on a date and buy the overpriced popcorn and drinks. It's what I would do for my best friend who was having a bad time so why wouldn't I do it for myself?

Did I say I thank God for that man?
