ESPN Club on the Boardwalk -- Are there still guest athletes? - The DIS Discussion Forums

I remember a few years back they had a guest athlete in every night to do a show and then sign some autographs. Do they still do that? I remember meeting Wade Boggs, Josh Bidwell, and Ryan Longwell.....I believe it was 4-5 years ago.

They do not do that on a regular basis. Maybe you visited during the ESPN weekend and that is why the athletes were there?

It wasn't ESPN weekend, I know that much.

They stopped doing that about 2 - 3 years ago. Apparently, the autograph seekers became overwhelming either for the club or the athletes. I, like you have seen some great athletes / guests there during the late 90's and early 2000's including Scotty Bowman, Mike Lowell, Pudge Rodriguez, Keith Simms, Scottie Pippen, Kevin Mawae, Jason Fabini, Garnt Fuhr and Tom "Flash" Gordon. They do live radio every one and while there where you may get to see an athlete. They also have some good trivia around dinner time.

BUMP. I would love to see some pro athletes at ESPN.

When there are sporting events at the Disney sports complex then the college and pro athletes stop by. Last year in Dec. the College football awards were held at the Dance hall at the BW so lots of college athletes and announcer types. We had lunch at ESPN on a rainy day, before the awards, and ran in to Tim Tebow. He was very nice and signed an autograph for my DD.
