Smoke on the water! Fire on the Magic?

Hey gang, I know everyone doesnt make it over to the trip report forum and I was just reading the turkey day gang's LIVE report (they are on the Magic right now) and saw this post by Icemanpad:

We are moving again...just not sure if we are really headed anywhere just yet or whether we are circling to stay in range of St. thomas until all systems check out...

Palo tonight for us...

Everything seems to be back to normal....

Will post later as I can..

Anyway, just thought I'd share for those who didnt see it.

Don't know, so far in the thread we have one person that says there WAS a fire, and one that said they HEARD it was an engine overheat. So Who knows, but hopefully they are all ok. I imagine no electric and the sea doors closing and all prob scared the heebie jeebies out of the kids, and some of the big kids too.

a CM posted "Turns out the engine blew causing a whole lotta smoke..... No fire though.....Power back on"

Thank goodness the cruisers are unharmed, although I am sure very frightened! This happened off St Thomas just a few hours ago.

Hopefully they can make repairs in port. I saw where they said they may be late to cc, hopefully they wont have to cut their arrival departure times short the rest of the way too much being down on power. And then of course theres the question of the next cruise to go. Hopefully they get everything fixed on the fly.

Hopefully the ship will arrive at Port Canaveral on time.

If I was on the ship, I would be concerned about getting to MCO on time for my flight home.

Hope they get it fixed okay and that everyone and everything is okay.

Does anyone else look at the AquaDuck on the Dream and it's planned route in or around both funnels and wonder what could happen if there was another fire like the previous funnel fire? I have to admit that crosses my mind everytime I watch the ride simulation video of the 'Duck.

Yikes! Pretty scary considering the Magic's fire in the smokestack a few years back.

We had something similar happen on the Wonder back when it was relatively new. No smoke, but an engine went out and it went to emergency lighting. It was back in the days of the improv comedy club; all the lights went out and there was no power, so the troop continued their performance with no lights or music! You could barely see with only the emergency lights. Back at our stateroom my husband had to take his contacts out in the hall via the floor lighting because there were no lights in our room. We were quite late to Nassau the next morning, but it had happened so late at night that many people didn't even know.

We were on a cruise where there was a problem with one of the ships's 5 engines. It did decrease the maximum running speed. Attempts at repair were unsuccessful and it was determined that the ultimate repair would have to wait till the ship was back at PC. We arrived at Castaway late due to the speed issues. There was never a safety issue.
