Pick a pearl -- it's fun to have the oyster you selected opened and discover the pearl within. It's a real show at the Mitsutoyo Store in Japan (Epcot).

Stitch's Great Escape -- I agree, big waste of time, but it's still open -- it was the Stitch live show that opened and closed faster than you can eat a Dole Whip.

What is the Ellen's Energy ride in Epcot? Is it actually a moving ride or is it a video?

Pick a pearl is a great keepsake. My DD did this in Jan and the oyster had a beautiful pearl in it - we had it set as a charm for a necklace.

There is a video in the beginning when you first enter. Then you go and sit down in these ride vehicles with tons of seats. After watching another short video clip the ride does move.

It's a combo of both. First you watch an (annoyingly) long movie where Bill Nye the Science Guy and Ellen learn all about energy. Then the seats start moving so you can ride through the time of the dinosaurs. I forget the tie-in, but that part's pretty cool. Then more movie at the end. It seems really long, but the AC is nice if it's hot out. I love the dino part, but it's not worth sitting through the movie IMHO. I should probably watch it again since I obviously didn't learn what they were teaching, but it was booooooring to me.

We LOVE picking a pearl in Japan. My DD loves searching the tank for the ugliest, hairiest oyster, which we have heard has the most beautiful pearl. The japanese girls working there are a riot, they are so cute and excited to see what is in your oyster. We just really get a kick out of it. It's pretty much a must-do for us.

Not to turn this into an Ellen thread, but it's a great place to relax & cool off for 45 minutes and my kids love the dinosaur part.

Back to original thread question(sort of) ...I know it's not an attraction, but I don't get pin trading- never have, never will- can't stand all of those people with lanyards and pins... why do they do it??

Back to thread (really) Love all Disney attractions, if I had to pick one I don't "get"- it's Mission Space. It's a cool ride, but kind of makes my head ache. I'm not a big fan.
Also never done the bird show at AK (flights of wonder???)- can't remember what it's called, but i don't really like birds and it never seemed worth the time.

It took my DH several tries to stay awake through the whole Ellen ride, most times he starts snoring once the cars start moving .

I didn't get pin trading either until I started. The pins look cool and it's a rush when you find one you really like or have been looking for. I collect Sleeping Beauty pins, love the fairies, Aurora as Briar Rose, and Malificent. For me it's fun and some of the pins really do look amazing. However, for DH it's an obsession. He's the type of person that is a collector and he loves collecting pins. I don't completely understand it. He wants to see every CM's lanyard and loves the pin trading boards and things that they'll do at merchandise shops (he does get annoyed because kids always cut him and don't realize he's in line too ). When it comes to pins he's a little kid again and I love it. We also buy a wedding pin every year to commemorate our anniversary. It adds a whole new dimension to doing the parks and I wouldn't recommend it for first timers, it can consume your whole day if you're not careful. However, for people that go a lot it's nice because the pins are always changing.

I don't get the Tiki Birds. Seriously, ten minutes of my life I'll never get back! I preferred Stitch over that.
