Experienced Poly disney goers...
Quick question...
Is it really annoying to get around?? It seems so big! We don't mind walking at all, just curious if you have to walk outside to get to everything??

Yes all their Longhouses are located outside from the Great Ceremonial House, which means they have none in their main building.

We didn't think it was that big. We were in Fiji Garden View and actually our balcony looked toward the marina. It was a minute walk, if that, to get breakfast in the morning and then not too far from the ttc from there. It really didn't feel all that big and I loved that it was a bunch of different buildings because none were a far walk from the stairs/elevator.

The Poly grounds are so pretty, you'll enjoy walking around! The only time it was a pain, was when it was raining.

We don't find it to be very spread-out at all. In fact, we had a longer walk to the bus stop when we stayed at the WL, which is all in one building, than we ever had at the Poly. The longest walk from one end to the other (say from Aotearoa to the TTC), walking at a leisurely pace, is about 7-10 minutes. We could do it faster, walking at a nice clip. Since the GCH (lobby) and the pools are pretty centrally located, the longest walk you should have to get there would be 5 minutes, maybe.
The only time the separate buildings present a problem is when the weather is disagreeable, as in pouring rain. You have to deal with that everywhere in Disney anyway. Bring ponchos! |

It's so beautiful there that it's hard to mind walking any. I didn't really think anyplace was that far away either. We were in Hawaii and it was just a short walk anywhere we wanted to go.

My family and I didn't stay in this section but when we would walk to and from the TTC, we could not believe how far away the Tahiti Longhouse was to the Great Ceremonial House. I also know it's very close to the TTC so that's a plus for those staying there, however it's one location where my family and I would not want to stay at.

There was absolutely nothing *annoying* about walking/getting around the Poly. I didn't think the grounds were too spread out at all. We stayed at CSR last year..now THAT is a lot of walking.

I totally agree. It does seem to be far from Tahiti to the GCH. We stayed in Tokelau and it wasn't too bad a walk. My ideal location would be Fiji longhouse.

WE stayed in Tahiti this past Oct. and by we I mean me, my DW (in a wheelchair) and my 2 sons 10 and 8, and we never found the walk to anywhere to be far or too long especially comapred to the amount of walking you do in the parks all day long. I think it was less than a 5 min. walk to GCH from our room.

Buildings - Depends on Who's Walking
I've only been to Poly once so not an expert... but, we stayed at Tahiti and thought it was convenient.... nice, quick (5 min.) walk to the TTC MK ferry and monorail to Epcot.. and the walk to the GCH was not very long (7 minutes?) and nice... we walked along the beach and through the Volcano Pool area to GCH, so our walk included the lagoon, beach, castle, and tiki torches (at night). The beach in front of Tahiti was very private and quiet. Great view of Castle from our room.
Hawaii building is closer and still has castle views, but I can't see paying all that extra money for concierge... doesn't seem like you get much except some food, and we like to dine out. Now, if you have young children or older people who are going to be slow or tire out fast, then it would be easier to be closer to GCH and hop on the monorail to get to places... We only had one 4yr old who had lots of energy on the way out.... and was usually in the stroller on the way back to the resort from the parks. For a future trip, I'd consider the Samoa building. Some of the patio rooms faced the Volcano pool. Samoa is very close (really just a few steps) to GCH, volcano pool, and the beach... and I'd think that garden views would not be of a parking lot like is possible with some other buildings. |

Tahiti was a drag when it was raining, but we would cut through other longhouses.

Walking around the grounds is one of reasons that I love the Poly so much. They are beautiful. We stayed in 07 and it was during a tropical storm. We just ran for it and laughed. Being out and about helps you to appreciate what you have paid for IMHO. It truly is gorgeous.
