The new pool alone makes my decision for CBR much easier. Throw in the pirate themed rooms and it's a no brainer...

We love CBR -- all the beaches, the hammocks and beach chairs, boat rentals on the resort's own 45-acre lake, walking/running/biking around the 1.4-mile Promenade walkway that encircles the lake and winds through the beautiful foliage, the Caribbean steel drum music overhead, the wonderful new main pool and all the other quiet pools in the villages, the quietness of the room location, the great selections at the food court, and the convenience of a bus stop close to every room.... we love CBR!!!

Gotta agree with Kat. CSR is much better than CBR. CSR has the best bus service of any WDW resort I've ever stayed at and I go 4-5 times a year. Since it's a convention resort, conventioneers are in meetings all day, leaving the buses almost empty. I've never stood on a CSR bus, whereas I've never stood as much as I did the last time I stayed at CBR. CSR has four bus stops compared to five at CBR. CSR has the Cafe Rix, Pepper Market, and Maya Grill, whereas CBR has only a really bad food court and Shutters. Both the CSR food court and the quick grab have fresh made desserts, whereas the ones at CBR are those nasty prepackaged desserts. CSR has a lounge, pool bar (that serves food), plus another bar right outside the Pepper Market with nice chairs and booths facing the lake. CSR has the biggest hot tub on property. They just got through remodeling the rooms and now have queen size beds with super comfortable deluxe mattresses and bedding. They have three style of buildings to choose from (Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas) all for a standard price whereas CBR has just the one style of building. CBR does have Nemo and Pirate themed rooms, but the Pirate rooms are alot more expensive. The Casitas have some lovely fountains in them and the Cabanas have lovely white sand beaches with lots of hammocks available. CSR also has a much nicer playground for kids. I also like how CSR has the registration area, guest services, gift shop, and all the restaurants under one roof. CSR also has elevators, whereas CBR does not. CSR is also the only moderate to have a health club/spa/beauty salon.
I have to admit I like the new pool at CBR and also like the location of the resort better, but those are the only two pluses it has over CSR. I've stayed at all four moderates and much prefer CSR over CBR, especially since they've gotten those new super comfortable queen size beds in all the rooms. I stayed at CSR this past Sept/Oct and have never slept as well I did that trip. Those beds are wonderful. Last edited by aubriee; 11-27-2009 at 01:18 AM. |

I also agree CSR for the above mentioned reasons. It is a MUCH nicer resort overall b/c of all of the upgrades. CBR does have an awesome pool but you sound like you have already stayed there before. Maybe it is time to try something new??

I'm booked at the CBR; all these positive comments for CSR are making me rethink my choice. And the good reports on POR are causing me conflict too!
I'll comfort myself with the thought I will be happy at any of these 3 moderate resorts. I just want to make the RIGHT choice...... |

We stayed at he CBR alot...on one trip they messed up our ressie and the last two nights were spent at the CSR (when it first opened). Only my opinion but it felt like we were staying at a convention type hotel. Not my idea of vacation. I like to leave work type atmosphere behind.

We have stayed at the Coronado (CSR) eight times and it has become our "home away from home." We don't mind that it is a convention resort (actually, several of the deluxes are convention resorts as well, including the CR). Having a convention there keeps the pools and the buses emptier because they are in meetings while you are enjoying your vacation. We love everything about the CSR -- from the new queen beds and furnishings, the sliding doors in the bathroom area, flat screen televisions, the main pool, quiet pools, largest hot tub of all of the moderates, nighttime lounge for adults, two other bars, several food options, spa/fitness center, etc. We've always had wonderful mousekeeping and great CM's--who have often gone above and beyond in helping in anything we needed.
Now we've never stayed at the CBR. This doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it. The theme just does not appeal to us (especially the new themeing of the rooms) and we didn't care for the food court. Both resorts are very large and get a bad rap for it which I find absolutely ridiculous (we've had a longer walk from our room at the CR to the pool than we ever did at the CSR and my bf had a longer walk from his room at the AKL to the pool than he did anywhere around the CSR). I don't think you can go with either choice (you'll be in Disney after all). Look at the pictures and see which theme appeals to you most.

I've been to CSR 3 times and will be staying at CBR for the first time this Feb. with DH. I love CSR, but felt there were some down sides to this resort on our last trip (Sept. 09 for 11 nights). The pool area is beautiful and its great to have the snack bar right there - its very convenient that they refill your mugs there. However, the hot tub was never hot in Sept., and the pool was almost cold. Now, on our other 2 trips this wasn't a problem, so maybe it was bad luck in Sept.
I'm wondering if its hard to keep that huge hot tub hot enough .The Pepper Market was really not that great in Sept. and very inconvenient for kids. I'm looking forward to a regular food court again at CBR. The adult feel of CSR can be a negative if you're bringing the kids although my kids did love the pool area. The Maya Grill was kind of awful for breakfast, though I can't compare it to Shutters yet. The bus system is fantastic at CSR - best of any resort we've stayed - definately way better than POR. Overall, I like CSR, but I'm looking forward to the more traditional Disney feel at CBR. I will miss the queen beds though .

I have stayed at both and CBR wins hands down if you are looking to escape from the world. Nothing beats the beaches and lush landscaping at CBR.
We didn't care for CSR. We found ourselves doing more walking there than CBR. Also we like the fact that the food court is next to the main pool at CBR. CBR also doesn't charge the mandatory 10% tip in you eat in the food court like CSR does. All they ever did for us was fill our mug once and we never saw them again. This happened several times. I don't think I should have to eat outside because I don't care for this policy. We also didn't like that outside our room was a quiet pool and people were yelling and screaming at 12 AM. The thing that is great about WDW is the fact that there is a resort for everyone.

We have stayed at both and much prefer CBR! Love the beautiful grounds and the tropical feel. Love the food court, the larger rooms, the double sinks in the bathroom, and the CM's are great. And you sure can't beat that new pool!
