Hilton Head Cranberry Cookies
Has anyone ever successfully copied the cookies served at Big Murgies Den at Hilton Head? I have read that they are from a bakery in Hilton Head and the exact recipe isn't available, but I wonder if any of you have successfully made something similar. I thought it would be something a little different to have added to the Thanksgiving dessert table.

Well,I'm sitting in Big Murgie's Den now and when I read your post, I walked the 15 steps to the front desk and asked. The resort buys the dough from Hilton Head Cookie Factory (843-379-5100) and then cooks the cookies at the resort. I'm afraid HH Cookie Factory is new to me, but not for long!

LOL! This exchange is so funny! Can't believe someone was right there, right then and asked!

Well, I made a recipe I found on the Southern Living recipe site. Not quite the same, but still pretty good. Next time I go, I'll have to analyze them instead of just woofing them down and try to perfect my cookie!

Found this, I hope this is it. I have been looking for a good cranberry cookie recipe. I will be trying my first DVC HHI cookie this Christmas!

Awesome!!! After eating them many years ago, I tried making a duplicate version. It seemed like a lot of the proportions matched with the tollhouse cookie basic recipe (for the dough part) but something wasn't quite right. The answer, after all these years: using all brown sugar!!! Thank you!!! Can't wait to give it a try... |

Yes thanks for posting this link to recipe !!! Definitely will give it a try.I tried the site SpringandMac posted to purchase the dough but I couldn't seem to find where you can actually place an order....it seems maybe you need to be a vendor or commercial customer to do so but maybe I missed something

Since it's from Chef Gordon, it HAs to be delicious! And since he's been at the resort for at least 7 years (probably longer-anyone here know?), I'd guess it's pretty authentic too. |
