I wish there was somewhere (besides car rental companies) that rented carseats.
I wish there was a place in Orlando that rented nice, clean car seats. They could meet you at the airport and diliver your seat for you or have it in a arranged pick up place. That would be SO fantastic and save so much hassle trying to lug carseats down to Florida.
I know you can rent ones at the car rental companies but I have heard those things are nasty and god knows how often they are cleaned or what condition they are in. Kristine |

I've never rented one, but have seen them at the car rental places. They all looked like they had just been cleaned really well. They were sealed up in plastic bags.
I wonder - maybe some car rental places clean them thoroughly after each use while some don't. Maybe you can check. For what you pay to rent one, it seems you could buy a cheap one probably. Or get a used one, gate check it, then give it away when you leave. If I really needed one, I guess I'd use it on the plane (but I remember what a hassle that was, so we haven't used one on a plane since my kids were 2, lugging it through the airport is a pain!). If you need one, maybe call the car rental places and find out if they have nice clean ones.

OP, it sounds like you understand that car seats shouldn't be rented... so this isn't directed towards you
![]() This is for anyone lurking, and considering renting a car seat (or using a car seat that a taxi company provides): Please do not rent a car seat. It's really risky. Of course if this was a perfect world and we knew 110% that these seats were absolutely safe, never damaged, in a wreck, mishandled, etc. then yeah, that would be one thing. But that is NEVER the case. You should never use a car seat that you aren't 100% sure of the history on it. People lie, people do lie. Companies lie. For a child under 40 pounds, a good light weight option is the Cosco Scenera. Costs $40-50. |

I agree with Erica09M.
Though I'll also admit that we consigned DS's snugride and scenara...I knew the history and use of them was pristine, and that the people who bought them would be getting excellent used seats...but I would never buy one or rent one.

last year, what i did was put my wife and daughter on the magic express. then trot on over to the car counter, pick up my car and stopped on the way to the resort at walmart. went in bought a cheapie for less than $20 and i still beat them to the resort. it was kinda funny at the airport trying to give it away..LOL i was walking around like a carnival barker practically begging people to take a very, very slightly used (14 days) car seat, and people looked at me like i was trying to hand out the plague...LOL, the thing still had all the tags on in. anyway right before i was about to deposit it in a nearby trash bin a lady came rushing over and took it. so for me the math was easy...$50 from the car rental $17 or so from walmart, then pass it on....
