stroller and rain

I was wondering what people did with their strollers when it rained? We will be there next week and there is a chance of rain.

Pull the sun canopy all the way down and then put a plastic rain poncho (you can buy cheap ones at Walmart or the Dollar Store) over the stroller if there's a chance of rain. You can even bring a few clothespins or binder clips to hold it in place.

If you're renting one at the parks, a poncho will fit on a single but not sure about a double. The seats are hard plastic so keep a small towel or rag in your diaper bag to dry the seats if they get wet.

My Maclaren came with a rain cover. Works great, we use it all the time. Ponchos work too.

I ordered a rain cover from Walmart, but Babies R Us has them, too. Worked great! We'd pile our bags on the seat of the stroller when we went inside, pull the rain cover over everything, and never had to worry about coming out to soaked seats. It stayed on much better than doing the poncho thing because it's heavier weight and fitted to the stroller so you don't have to worry about a corner flipping up in the wind and the seat getting wet. But in a pinch, the poncho will keep some of your stuff dry.

For my single Macleran I use the rain canopy that came with it. For my double Baby Jogger city mini I bought the rain cover that is sold separately.

Last year in October I had a double Macleran and we got stuck in the rain. I had to buy a poncho at the parks and used that as a cover. It worked OK.

When we were there in May and it was raining the staff at Chefs des France were making everyone leave them outside in the rain w/ no shelter. we were able to bring ours in as we asked nicely and quietly as it was quite expensive.
I would def bring a rain cover as the weather is always so unpredictable and the stroller areas are very rarely covered.

If your bringing your own stroller and rain cover if a good investment. As PP said both Walmart and Babies R Us sell "generic" rain covers designed to fit different stroller styles (Graco style versus jogger; double strollers, etc.).

We ordered a stroller cover from BedBathandBeyond.com. It fit great and kept everything very dry. We would just lift it up and lower back down to let my daughter in/out. The strollers we saw with ponchos did not seem to be covered as well and the parents seemed to take a lot longer to get the kids in/out of them. Also seemed a little awkward using clothespins.

We bought a zip up cover on ebay and it was a lifesaver! Penny just headed to the stroller and zipped herself in when the skies opened up and we were outside. When we went inside (The big pavilions in Epcot are great in the rain but many don't allow strollers) we could park the stroller anywhere and know it would be dry when we returned. I felt like I could help spread some magic for others by making sure unprotected strollers were undercover because I didn't worry about mine.
My stroller was easy to spot since I let Penny decorate the cover with bright foam Little Mermaid stickers before we left.
The only unexpected problem was that I though all the stuff in the basket was OK since it was undercover... I underestimated how deep some puddles get and the water that comes UP.
I didn't feel like schlepping the cover home (never planned to even before it rained the last day) So I visited the check in area of our resort, found a family just arriving and disappointed about a rainy arrival day, and I gave them the cover. Wish I could have given it to the family 3 days before who asked where I bought it and said she was sending her hubby out to buy one at WalMart. We all agreed Disney should sell them with the ponchos and umbrellas!

I would suggest buying a rain cover for the stroller (either a universal one or one specifically for the stroller brand) or use a rain poncho.
