Does MVMCP ever get rained out??

I know, I know - I am trying not to stress about the upcoming weather, but we have tickets for MVMCP on 12/1- which the weather forecast shows heavy rain at times. I know this may or may not happen, but I wondered if MVMCP ever gets closed for rain? If it is bad out, do they let you use your ticket on another night like 12/3?? Just wondering.

In our experience, the event is rain or shine. The fireworks *may* get canceled because of rain, but I do not believe they will refund/replace your tickets because of that. Check the paperwork that came with your tickets -- I do think it has language about it being good for the date issued and that events may or may not go on as described, etc.

We went to the first MVMCP Nov 10, 09 and it started raining very hard just before the parade and fireworks, so we left along with many, many others. It was packed and hard to get thru the crowd. We had went before and enjoyed it very much but this time a waste of money..

We were told last year by a CM at a Pirate and Princess party, that if they cancelled the parade and the fireworks, you could get a full refund. If they had the parade and/or fireworks, rain or not, no refunds. I don't know if that applies to all parties or not.

We were at a party a few years ago and it rained. The parade started late but the fireworks went off. It was not too much fun walking around in the rain.

There was a post that people attending that night could get a 1 day MK ticket or a ticket for another night. Don't know if you had to claim it before you left the park.

You can use that ticket anytime in the next year for a MK admission.

I was there for the first one this year. Many of the early shows were rained out along with the parade. They allowed you to use that ticket for a one day admission to MK or wait in line and exchange your ticket for another party or get your money back.

We are going to the party that night too and I have checked 4 different weather forcasts (weather.com along with some local Orlando New Channels) and they all say 40% chance of scattered showers. If it does rain I don't think it will rain long, just typical Florida showers where it rains for a few minutes and moves on. At least we are hoping for that. The night of our party is our last night in Disney and we will are really looking forward to attending the party for the first time.

We have been at the MVMCP when it has rained. They do not cancel the event but crowds tend to disappear very quickly even it the rain clears. As some mentioned it tends to be a little cool during the time of these events. The ticket itself has an extensive legal paragraph on the back that includes weather, capacity, refurbishing and include changes to the event or even discontinuing without notice without liability to the owners of Walt Disney World Resort. It is a rain or shine event.

We got rained out in 2002 - very hard rain and not stopping - eventually everything was canceled.

We were able to get a refund through the mail after mailing in our wristbands and tickets. Not sure if they do that anymore.

No but they let you use the ticket for a one day admission within the next year. They don't shout it from the rooftops but if you check with Guest Services that night they would tell you that - but you don't HAVE to check with Guest Services because if they make that decision then EVERYONE who has a ticket can use it within the year. The exception would be those who turned their tickets in for different MVMCP nights.

I live about 2-1/2 hours SW of Disney. We went to MVMCP about 10-12 years ago, and it drizzled the whole day and night. We were misreable. We have a picture that we had taken, and we are all in soaked jackets, with our hair matted to our heads, and no smiles on our faces. But we still had fun, we were just physically misreable.

Unfortunately, you aren't likely to get the "rain for a few minutes then quit" in December. That is a Spring and Summer rain pattern. December rain usually brings a cold front, and can last hours or all day and night. Like here in Fort Myers today - it has rained for about 10 hours now, at times hard then switching to a slow drizzle, then picking up again. A cold front is coming tomorrow. This is how it rains in December in Florida. So bring good rain gear.

Do they let you apply the tickets to MVMCP for the next year? We are going on the last night this year and we are AP holders, so we wouldn't need the day pass, but if it gets rained out it would be nice to use it for a party next year.

We were at the first MVMCP this year (Nov. 10) and as others have posted, it was raining hard with no end in sight.
We claimed our replacement the next morning. We were told by a CM before we left the park what our options were. We could stand in a line in the rain for 30+ minutes and deal with it that night or go to any guest services/resort concierge the next day and have the money/ticket replaced.
