Funny thing about room service

I just got off the 11/14 Magic and ordered coffee from room service every morning. I wake up early (5:30 - 6:00am) so I would quietly pick up the phone and place my order. When they delivered it, I would meet them at the door and be really careful not to wake my husband who is NOT an early riser. About 30 minutes later our phone would ring (and wake up my now unhappy husband). It was room service calling to see if my order was perfect. At first I thought it was an isolated incident, but it happened every morning. I thought it was hilarious (my husband - not so much!). Has this happened to anyone else? Is there such a thing as too much customer service?

Thats hilarious, and frustrating all at the same time.

One tip for next time, Which i have not personally tried but will this time around........
'
You can order the coffee at night and it will still be hot in the morning.

thanks

Yes, there is a door hanger that you fill out and put on your door. You mark what you want and the time you want it delivered. They are very good about being on time.

I'm curious, after the first time and second, why didn't you just request for them not to call you back as it was waking your husband?

They always call to check and see if your meal (even just coffee) was satisfactory.
Even if you use the door hang the night before, they'll either call to let you know that your order is on its way, or call afterward, and often times, they will do both.

You could maybe request that they NOT call, but there may not always be the same person making those calls, and it might be hard for them to make note of.

Probably the best solution, if you don't want the phone ringing, is to go up and get some coffee at the drink station.

Odd

I'm an early riser (5am) I leave my clothes and a book near the door get up, dressed and out the cabin quietly. Up to deck nine and get coffee and read till my wife comes. very quiet and peaceful. Maybe you don't feel safe alone?

On the September DVC Member Cruise we had a group of early risers of which I was one. We'd meet up on deck 9 near the drink island. Some are coffee drinkers, some (like me) drink tea, and we even had a woman who brought her own Pepsi! Some came solo (while our spouses continued to sleep) and others came as couples. We'd sit and chat and share our adventures from the day/night before. It truly was one of the highlights of the cruise for me. Great people and a great way to spend an early morning. One member of the group even made buttons for everyone. We'd get together when it was still dark out and chat until the sun came up and breakfast was open!

One time I placed my order for breakfast the night before. The next morning the phone rang to tell us that it was on the way. Oh, BTW, my kids had the connecting room next door to us and their breakfast arrived 1/2 hour before we even got a call.
So, anyway I figured that my DH would just grab the tray and bring it into the room. I was still in bed but awake, but not fully dressed for guests.
Room service came into the room to place the tray on the table. Boy, I didn't expect that at all. I was blushing and I couldn't wait for him to get out!

I never ordered room service in the AM, but we always got a call after they delivered it at other times. We even got a thank-you note from RS on the last night! DH said it must have been because we were frequent users LOL!

Okay, I have a stupid question about room service - how much do you tip?
Is it the normal 15-20% like in a restaurant, or something different.

(Can you tell I'm a peasant - not used to such service)
