st. maarten mayo beach airplane schedule
we are going on feb 27 eastern cruise. in st maarten if we wanted to go to mayo beach for pictures and maybe catching a plane taking off or coming in where would i find a schedule to know the best time to go there. is it safe to hire a cab it is just myself and my 14 year old son. i know not to swim there as there is a dangerous undercurrent however the scenery is beautiful and the plane thing is very cool . i thought my son would like to see that. any suggestions from those of you who have done this thanks so much.

First off I want to tell you it's Maho Beach, not Mayo Beach. We were told that most take off/landings are in the afternoon after lunch and by that time of day, the traffic gets too heavy (there is only a two lane road back and forth) to see anything and make it back to the ship on time. It's about a 30-45 min ride without traffic from where the Magic docks and Maho. We were downtown at the time and based on the recommendation of the locals we spoke to, decided to forgoe it for the day.

We rented a car and drove out there. The big planes did not start landing until mid afternoon. We saw 3 large jets and several smaller planes. Traffic was heavy on the way back, but we made it back in time to return the car and stroll through the shops at the pier before we got back on the ship.
