Family Resort in the Keys?

Anyone know of a nice family resort in the Keys? I've heard Hawks Key is great, but it's pretty pricey. DH, DD10 and I just want to chill by a pool and explore.

DH and I stayed at the Key Largo Hilton in August. They had a pretty good deal going and they have a water-sports company onsite for parasailing, renting Waverunners, kayaks, etc. They have two pools. The resort has one of the few "beaches" in Key Largo, but they're all pretty small. Much of the Hilton's grounds is wooded and there are squirrels and lizards everywhere outside that your daughter might like.

It's on the south end of town, away from the main area and marina. That's a plus for it being quiet, a minus for needing a car to go anywhere to eat, shop, etc.

One afternoon we took a Waverunner tour (from an outside company) all around and through the mangrove islands around the Middle Keys. It was so neat. Lots of opportunities to snorkel in the area too.

I liked Key West the one time we visited but I think the Upper Keys are more family-friendly. Almost everything revolves around the water.

We stay at The Hammocks in Marathon. It's a nice resort with a great location. It is a timeshare resort, but we just do daily stays like a hotel. It's run by the Bluegreen group. Very reasonably priced and good for families.

Another vote for Hammocks at Marathon. We go there every year for New Years. It's mid way on the keys.. easy drive to Key west, close to both state parks. nice pool and tiki bar where they do have food. It's family friendly and clean. Marathon has 2 nice beaches and so does the state park that is a bit south (cant' remember the name right now). Some restaurants to try would be Key Fisheries, great quick seafood shack, and Castaway used to be good but now they were in the middle of a remodel and you know how that changes things! We are bluegreen owners and the Hammocks are one of our favorites. Also, they have studios, one bedrooms and 2 bedrooms. Studios are more like a hotel room, one and two bedrooms have a full kitchen

I don't have a recommendation but I wanted to say I love Key West. I hope you have a great time. There is nothing like the Keys.

Thanks for the info! Both places look great. At first I was kind of bummed we would be skipping Disney for the Keys, but I'm getting excited now. We plan on going in March or April.

my vote is Hawks Cay. it has everything right there for the whole family. we prefer the townhouses so we can cook and bring our bikes to go all over the island. We did stay in Key largo this past summer and it was nice also with Harris Park down the street at ocean pointe resort. Its not as expensive and are condos.
