Many people prefer POFQ because of it's compact size but we prefer POR as it has more to offer for us. The food court at POR is one of the best IMO and it also has TS restaurant which POFQ doesn't. POFQ only has 1 pool whereas POR has the main pool plus several quiet pools...nice when you don't have kids and want some pool time with a little less activity! Both resorts have the boat to DTD which is a really nice change from the bus but the watercraft/bike rentals are at POR if that matters to you. I'm not sure about POFQ but POR has a lounge with nightly live entertainment. Regardless of which you choose, you can use the pools, etc at both if you don't mind taking a short stroll.

We love POR! It's so relaxed and beautiful- just what we need after a day in the parks!

I like POFQ because of its size and the fact that every building has an elevator. Not all of the buildings at POR have elevators (only the mansions do from what I've heard). Also at POFQ you are the first stop for the bus that also hits POR so you are on and off the bus first.

POFQ has a great lounge (Scat Cat's) as well. As mentioned earlier, it doesn't have a TS restaurant and it only has one pool, but POR is a very short walk away and, unlike the other resorts, pool-hopping is allowed between the two. |

Search for previous threads, this is a common question and you'll find lots of opinions. We've stayed at POR twice in the last year and would choose it again. 2 weeks ago we did the POR carriage ride which went through POFQ and I wasn't impressed. The French Quarter was nice, but just not our cup of tea. The rooms also seemed much farther away from the parking lots than POR so you might have to haul your stuff farther if you have a car (could be a good thing depending on your point of view).

Riverside - by a mile. Larger food court, gift shop and pool(s). Much more lushly landscaped and beautifully themed. We truly felt the Disney "magic" at POR. POFQ to us was mediocre and bland.

Stayed in both... We like FQ better for the reasons others have already stated.

This totally depends on which building you get. We were in building #1 and didn't have far to go to get to an elevator to lug our stuff upstairs. When we stayed at POR we had pretty far to go, plus had to lug all the stuff up a flight of stairs which was NO fun

All depends on what you want.
FQ is smaller, more compact, and so nothing in FQ is far from anything else. FQ also has the slight edge in bus service, because there are times when the bus is not shared, and FQ has only one stop. But, R is better provisioned in terms of restaurants, has what I think is a better main pool complex, and is a bit more lush in theming. FQ seems to be the "Disboards Darling" (as well as the fan favorite at a couple other sites). The Unofficial Guide, in the past, had POFQ rated significantly more highly than POR, but the most recent survey has POFQ falling back into the pack a bit. It would be hard to go wrong with either. I've got a reservation at POFQ for an upcoming trip---the bus situation there tipped in its favor. But, it was a close call, and I almost ended up in POR because of the more lush setting. |
