Park pass w/ free dining - but can't go

We are a GG of 15 people going Dec. 3-15, we are all paid in full but now one of us can not make it. I do not want to cancel this person because it is there name linked to the free dining pin code that we booked under.
So here is my question, if this persons pass is never activated for park entry can it be used next year when we go back.

I don't believe the free dining is connected to the park pass. I believe the free dining is placed on the card at time of check in at your resort. I think the person who booked the reservation has to be present and show id....I'm not 100% positive about this, but pretty sure.

Good luck - that would stink to get this close and not be able to go!

The room key with package admission, never used to enter a park or water park this time, is good for park admission for next time or whenever, by anybody.

When you "pay for" meals under a dining plan, only one room key, any room key, is presented to the waiter or cashier.

OT: If you invite an extra person for a day and all of the persons in the party are aso there, one person's meal must be ordered and paid for separately because although all the dining credits are in one "pool", if the package and dining plan is for X people, no one mealtime can have more than X meals charged to it.

If the person not going is the primary guest and all the info is in their name...That is going to be a problem. The primary guest needs to be there to check in

That's what I was thinking. They are going to want to see ID from the person who made the reservation.

They most definitely will ask for the ID of the person on the reservation. DH and I checked in about 3 weeks ago, and he handed his ID over, but the CM refused it and asked for mine (we forgot the ressie was in my name and not his). Might be a problem if that particular person is not there to check in with you.

That may be problematic. As PPs have noted, if the reservation is in that person's name, they're going to ask for that person's ID at check in. Maybe especially because there is a PIN tied to the reservation, since PIN codes are nontransferrable.

Assuming this all works out, if it is never used, the park admission ticket does not expire until it is first used, so would be good until you go back.

My mom will check in before me and my name is on the pin. A CM told me that mom can check into our room before I get there.

Whose name is the reservation in? The lead guest whose name the reservation is in MUST be present.

They will sometimes allow others to check-in first but the person who has the discount does need to check-in eventually. One time we went on a trip with a friend who works at The Disney Store, she got the room discount. We arrived in the morning, she arrived in the afternoon, they did allow us to get our keys and a room was even ready.

Yep - if this person is the primary guest (the one in whose name the reservation was made), they have to show up. Not sure what happens if the primary guest does not appear. They always ask for a picture ID when I check in as a primary guest. The one thing they don't let you do is change the name of the primary guest and keep the same reservation but I don't know what they do in case the primary guest just doesn't show up because of an emergency or something.

I doubt you have 15 people on the same reservation number - it's just the reservation with this person on it that might have a problem. Not sure how it will affect the PIN code discount, because only that person is technically entitled to book the discount.

this happened to us

If the person not going, is the lead on the room reservation, they will look for that person's id at check-in... so you'll have a problem.

we were in the same boat... grand gathering for 10, my sister was the primary person on the reservation for the room for her son and my son. Well... she got a new job and they couldn't give her the week off. I called reservations, explained the situation, and they were great! the cm was able to take my husband off of my room reservation (i'm the primary for our room) and put him in with the boys. Because we have the four kids and now my husband and I are in separate rooms, they've guaranteed that the rooms will connect so that we can be together as a family. they were great about it... no penalty, they even credited us the amount for her ticket.

call them... it can't hurt to ask.

we check in next week - hopefully all will go smooth!

In May I booked FD for Sept, my ressie and my daughter's. Seperate rooms. Since I was booking hers using DSIL's CC I made him the primary guest. I was leaving on the 9th and they were leaving on the 10th to go to Disney. FPL ended up sending us a letter saying they were going to shut off power to our neighborhood for 5-6 hours on 10th so DD decided to go up with me because of DGD5 months at the time and share my room for the first night. DSIL called and asked to let her check in, 7am the next morning she checked in, she was given both of their tickets, he never had to check in to confirm he was there. I guess it depends on the relationship of the primary guest to the person checking in.

I would suggest calling 407-W-DISNEY and ask to speak to a supervisor. Explain the situation and see if anything can be done.

If worst comes to worst, the person in whose name the reservation is can take a "red-eye" flight down on the evening of the 2nd, check-in the morning of the 3rd, and then fly home. I know it will cost a lot, but it would probably cost a lot less than losing the value of the PIN code for a reservation of that many people.

The lead person can then save their ticket on the KTTW for a future ticket. And you will have some number of "additional" meal credits in your group because of one fewer person.

I am the primary contact and have booked everything - the hotel rooms, ADR, paid for everyone on credit card, etc. all under my name however it is my wife that recieved the pin code for free dining via her e-mail but it adresseded to our sur name, so I hope this will not be a problem. Maybe I should call and speak to a supervisor and explain our situation. Thanks everyone for your help.
