Did anyone get bumped during last years pop warner?

My family and I arrive on Dec 12th and are staying at Asmu. We have a family suite booked and a regular room. The resort is booked solid and I wonder if there will be rooms for us when we arrive late on the 12th.

Talking Getting bumped

Be sure you do the 10 day on line check in!!! And if you paid even a deposit towards your vacation I'd think they would have to keep your ressie . Also let them know you will be doing a late check in a make a copy of your communication!take names of whom ever you talk to!!!!!

Yikes

I wouldn't think they could bump you. We're checking in late on Saturday the 5th to ASMU. I booked that family suite way back in February. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but if the room is reserved and paid for, they can't just give it to someone else, right?

Here's a post I found on another thread. I'm not sure if this was last year or the year before though:

I couldn't believe that not only did they not hold the room I had reserved the year before, they had already moved me to another resort before I even got there......they gave my room away to a family that just found out a few weeks before they were going from a person who stays there every year. I stood my ground, and I ended up with a room at the back of the Arcadian House, facing the parking lot. They did compensate me for not giving the water view room I paid for.

Think again. I was booked at POR three years ago; when I arrived, I was told that I had been moved to CSR. I had booked my room almost a year before and paid for a water view room.

I stood my ground and told them I had not intention of moving unless they moved me over to a deluxe. They said no, it was CSR or go home. I ended up staying at POR, but they put me in a room facing the parking lot and compensated me for the water view room. They had given it away to another family from Pop Warner, because they assumed I would move.....

You are booked at the Walt Disney World Resort, with a preference of Asmu. You are not guaranteed to stay there. They can move you for no reason at all. Does it happen often? No. But it does happen. They can upgrade or downgrade anybody, anytime.

In my experience, they usually offer upgrades earlier in the day. They may be overbooked by say, 5 rooms, so they will offer 5 people upgrades upon check-in, but they will be pre-flagged. If they say no, they will keep trying until 5 people say yes or all the rooms are checked in. I wouldn't count on it though. It is somewhat systematic, depending on check-out days and such.

Most of the PW will be checking out by then, I think (and hope, since we arrive on the 12th too)
If you do get bumped, I hope it is an upgrade!

You most likely will be able to get a room; a lot of them leave by Friday night/Saturday morning. You may just be in luck!

thanks for all the comments.

There are 4 adults and 2 children in my party so Disney will either have to find us 3 reg rooms or put us in a suite elsewhere. I am really not very worried about it.
I was just curious about previous experiences and I want to prepare DS as he will be checking in first.

I would think that when Disney does have to move people, they would look first for the smaller families that can fit into any room, anywhere. It would be much easier for them to move someone booked in a standard room than to move someone who needs a family suite or 2bd villa.

They will not downgrade you. Unless it's the same resort different view or asking you to take non pref. if you've paid for pref. Then they will credit any $$ charged for view/room location. Any changes made other than that will be lateral or upgrades. It's happened to me twice. Both times due to them closing all or parts of a resort for renovations.

Once was from POFQ to POR. Once was CBR to another mod of my choice OR the Poly for $10/night more. I took the Poly for $109/night.

I'm not missytara, but there is no way she could have used it three years ago, as online check in just started a few months ago.

I've never been bumped to another resort, but a few years ago we had booked and paid in full for a preferred room several months in advance. When we arrived we were bumped to a standard room. They said they had overbooked the preferred rooms. When we asked to be moved to a preferred room at another resort (same category, not an upgrade) we were simply told no. I had booked with an AP discount and the CM said all the AP discount rooms were booked at all moderates, so we couldn't move.

So, you're telling me even though I booked and paid for a family suite, I may not get it, and may not even be refunded the difference if I don't get it? That would make me really mad. I hope that doesn't happen.

Okay, I just spoke with Lourdes at Disney. She assured me that my family suite is guaranteed. What they can't guarantee are things like water views and king sized beds, which I already knew. They say that on the website. But the family suite is guaranteed. Thank you Disney.
